Dark times calls for a Dark Duke

Introducing Amdusias – The Dark Duke. I picked this up used for $250, and it's perfect for my needs, which is basically re-learning my chords and dick around with sounds, and just get a better understanding of the guitar, since I mainly write about music. I learned that mine does not include the Kill-Pot, which was introduced in the 2013 models, so no strobe effect for me. The Studio version does not feel any lighter than the other Les Paul's I tried out, but that's okay, as most of the time I'll just be sitting in my DOOM lair. Awesome

This is my first electric guitar ever that I own. Mine is 2006, it looks badass. I'm a fan of satin finish, too. And the sounds so so good! I must say, this one also the best carve top guitar in my opinion!

Good for the price

For the price, this is a great guitar. However, we have had problems with the jack coming off, which requires an intensive search of the studio for it, and then a couple minutes to figure out what tightness will work the best at the given moment. That tightness changes with temperature, humidity, etc. The lead tone is nice and brassy, the center position of the pickup switch is very loud and dissonant, and the rhythm position is warm and jazzy. It definitely has that "dark" mahogany tone. Good beginner guitar, and an alright professional one.

why not buy a new jack plate and a switchcraft jack? easy mod, 2 solder joints on a part that can't be burned out.... I really prefer metal ajck plates on LPs. They don't crack and they don't expand and contract substantially based on the temperature. Its not vintage correct, but we're not talking about an R9 here. And even on a vintage guitar, I sue what works best. If the stock part has any issues then I tend to replace it with something that does the job better.

Awesome for the price

The guitar is great for the price, the sound is deep and full. Still I recommend to listen to a few of them and choose the one which sounds better (a common approach to budget guitars). It is mate, so it may get scratches and fingertips fast, be aware that it will look not as cool as at the start very soon. The guitar also looks awesome on photos lol.

I've had the Gibson SG Goth for going on 12 years now. Let me tell you, the paint sure doesn't look the way it did on the day I got it lol. I try and be careful with it, but due to its mat finish, it looks beat to Hell.

divuar_lacroix

Sure, my guitar which is like a few years old has scratches and polishes and some areas. I ment one needs to be aware that the polish will look worse soon :)

A Very Versatile Guitar

I have no end of pleasure, playing this guitar. So far, I haven't found any reason not to love this guitar, and no issue with playing any style of music. Thrash, Black, Death, Rock, Classical, etc. It suffices for all.

Good Guitar, Great Price!

I've been using this guitar live and in the studio for a few years now, for something so inexpensive, it destroys. I use it with an EMG 81 in the bridge and an EMG 60 in the neck. I've absolutely wonderful to play and sounds absolutely pissed.

A Gem

A very good guitar within the economic range. The truth is it has a very warm sound and a very good sustain.

In an article with an interview with Andrew Craighan prior to the Graspop gig in Belgium, July 2004, he can be seen using an Epiphone Goth Les Paul Studio with Floyd Rose. This is the same guitar he used during the Hof Ter Lo live performance in Antwerp, Belgium, in November 2003, as evidenced by the video recording on the Sinamorata DVD, released in 2005 by the Peaceville label.
