Issei Noro uses Yamaha CPX-15A Issei Noro uses Yamaha CPX-15A

Issei Noro used a Yamaha CPX-15A electro-acoustic guitar with Pegasus, his acoustic duo project with Tetsuo Sakurai, around 2010. The guitar visible in Pegasus footage appears to be the Egyptian-themed Compass Series version, commonly listed as the Yamaha CPX-15E / CPX-15EA “East,” featuring an Egyptian Sandburst finish, Egyptian-style rosette, and hieroglyphic fingerboard inlays. In a 2010 HMV Japan article about Pegasus, Issei Noro is listed as using a Yamaha CPX-15A electro-acoustic guitar. The guitar seen in Pegasus footage matches the Egyptian-themed Yamaha Compass Series CPX-15E / CPX-15EA “East,” with Egyptian Sandburst finish, Egyptian rosette, and hieroglyphic-style fretboard inlays.

Very rich sound, professional build and feel

DISCLAIMER: I don't own the "a" version, which means the new adjustable neck. I have the one that come out before this, that is named the same thing, but with the standard dual action truss rod.

I love it. Rich sound. Good bottom, delicate cedar sounding top end. good resonance and sustain. Comfortable matte satin finish on the neck. They call the neck profile a "soft V" but honestly it feels like a C shape. It's comfortable and there is no ridge from a V. It's built well, the hard case is light and works well. This has been on my GAS list for a long time, and I finally got one. With tax this would have ran me $3933 new, but I got this in very good used shape for $1988 (including tax and shipping) The best deal on reverb at the time. I have seen the Stonebridge version (non-master's choice) go for ~$1300, but those don't show up much.

TLDR the hype is real, these are amazing professional instruments that are truly beautiful in sound and feel. It's the most expensive thing I've ever bought (other than my car) but I'm very happy with it.

Life is short, buy the guitar!

Panther Modern uses Korg MS-10 Panther Modern uses Korg MS-10

In this October 24, 2023 interview for Ableton.com, Brady Keehn of Sextile (who performs solo as Panther Modern) discusses the importance of his Korg MS-10:

Ableton: Push clearly incorporates more electronic elements into your sound. I understand the Korg MS-10 helped instigate this change?

Panther Modern: I always say that I’m not really a musician. I can’t put two hands on a keyboard or solo on a guitar, but I do know how to record. I’m kind of inspired by Brian Eno, who would also admit to not being a virtuoso musician but uses the studio as an instrument. On the first two records, I used VSTs, a Korg Polysix and a Yamaha DX-7, but the MS-10 has a very beefy and particular sound that I was drawn to. When I first came across it I couldn’t play it as well as I’d have liked, so I used Ableton as the brain, sending sounds out to a sequencer and using those to sequence the MS-10. That was the first time I started sequencing basslines and other sounds in time with other instruments, which opened up a whole new door, and we’ve been working in dance music ever since.

You can see his MS-10 in action in this TikTok post from August 2023.
