Anyone bought any new cds or downloaded anything or gowever you get your music?

I've finally got round to buying the vines CD winning days. Its always been one of my fav albums and had all their stuff on my pc at one point but it crashed so bought it in CD this time and will gradually get everything else I lost. Could just download stuff again but I like having a CD

they're still selling records with new songs on them? good to know

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Winning days ain't really near, like 2004. I was just wondering what stuff people are buying and how they buy their stuff.

I loved that album back then. As far as I can remember the last thing I bought physically was Michael Kiwanuka's first record "Home Again". Ah, and Augustine's "Rise Ye Sunken Ships". They're pretty good. I bought them on CD. But only after I made sure that I love these records via the internet.

Recently I got lost into Rouge Wave's new album "Delusions of Grand Fur". Pretty amazing!

GEAR:
  • Gibson J-45
  • Blank slot

Last actual record I bought was a Christmas album from the 60's with a bunch of celebrities singing on it. I did have a decent collection of metal on vynyl for a while though. I had a brand new print of Tomb of the Mutilated. They make a lot of new metal music on records still.

Last downloaded albums were

BABYMETAL - Resistance

Weird Al - Manditory Fun

Last CD's bought

Dream Theater - Chaos in Motion

ELO - Greatest Hits

Guardians of the Galaxy OST

Here's some of what's on rotation these days (this is from my iTunes, often I just listen to live shows on YouTube but I won't list those):

We Are Scientists - Helter Seltzer (Love these guys. Just recently saw them live and they put on an amazing show)

Travis - Everything at Once (One of my favorite bands. Still trying to decide if I like this new album though...)

Underworld - Barbara Barbara, We Face A Shining Future (Legends. Whenever a band whose old material I loooovvve releases something new I brace myself for massive disappointment. Happy to say Underworld's new album stays true to what made them awesome in the first place.)

DMA's - Hills End (If you like Oasis you'll like DMA's, because WOW they sound similar - I discovered them by tuning into the Coachella 2016 live stream)

Mat Zo - Self Assemble (One of my fav electronic artists, the guy is so talented and versatile)

GEAR:
  • Fender Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar
  • Big Ear Pedals Woodcutter
  • HeadRush FRFR Go Portable Desktop Amplifier

Some old Sunn O))))_and_Boris_album) album I just found.

Apparently, this is what it feels like to escape that "social" dogma" crap that everyone lays out regarding music. IN-FUCKING-VIGORATING

go see Sunn live and prepare to have your organs liquefied! a recording can't reproduce the visceral quality of their live show

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Ah, if only... they're only playing in Europe this year. I've only seen a video of them playing in an old church... That's the kind of stuff I wish to see.

they'll be around, seattle isn't any further from you than Florida is from me... its hardly any effort to tour down there for bands up here. You can do distances like that in a van comfortably. You'll see them, just wait.

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard

True...

You know, Jim, it constantly surprises me when I hear you like bands that seem so obscure. Do you happen to know any other good bands around that genre (or even close to Einsturzende)?

By the way, I've been hanging out here. Kind of a strange place, eh?

I am an encyclopedia of popular song. And not-so-popular song too....

no one is really like einsturzende neubauten, even within that proto industrial genre that came up in Europe parallel to punk rock, but check out melt banana... you may like that

I am actually not a huge fan of Sunn, but it doesn't mean that I wouldn't go to see them back when I still had time to go to shows. I can only enjoy their music live when its more of a feel it experience than a listening experience. Its an incredibly ballsy thing to attempt and I appreciate that most of all. I don't know what Sunn's merits are apart from boldness, volume and spectacle, but that's enough for me to pay the price of admission when they tour.

By the way, I've been hanging out here.

oh yeah, would you look at that, a metal site

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6

An Encyclopedia on metal bands! I'm sure you haven't seen one of those in the cesspool of metal websites.

I think its pretty well covered within the broader heavy rock framework of the dinosaur guitar site.

I found a stray ITunes voucher, and picked up, Russian Circles - Station, and TWDY - Young Mountain

Some old [Sunn O)))]

I love Sunn 0)))! They're so underrated, and understandably so, but all the same great. They're also supposed to be epic live. Glad to finally meet somebody else who's actually heard of them, here where I live everyone either likes pop shite, rubbishy emo (As in MCR/FOB/PA!TD stuff, as opposed to quality like American Football, TTNG), or indie, so much bloody indie rock.

Eh, the Station album. Honestly, I found that record a bit distasteful. After moving from Enter, it felt kind of empty. Russian Circles certainly knew how to tell a story with Enter, but Station seems different. I'll have to take a gander at it again.

Ah, This WIll Destroy You. Very notable album. I think I found that from YouTube. The album art always hooks me. Only thing I hate about this band is... this:

No, it's not his face. He plays and SITS. I personally have quite a hatred to that, but that's just my opinion.

I love Sunn 0)))

Recommendations, mate. I just started listening to their collaboration with Boris. My favourite has to be Sinking Belle... beautiful piece. I have an affinity for songs like those.

TTNG

I've only listened to their First Demo EP, which hooked me pretty fast. It's amazing how clean and orderly Tim's playing is. It's also refreshing to find an album where it's just guitars pushed into a cranked amp.

Yo, again, recommendations. Our tastes are pretty similar.

Sad lovers & giants - Headland (if you love delayed guitar lines you may dig these guys)

He plays and SITS. I personally have quite a hatred to that, but that's just my opinion.

I just noticed this....

hatred is a really strong word for someone's guitar-posture LOL

is he in KISS? then he's not there to entertain you with his abiity to play while hopping up and down and spitting fake blood on the front row. Is it essential he stand up and deliver? Maybe he can't stand all night, he might have a bad back or maybe he just plays better sitting down (I can't play jazz standing up, it throws me). If you want a dance routine set to loud guitar, go catch Pink's next tour, that's her schtick. Maybe this dude doesn't have a schtick and doesn't have his act together because he doesn't have an act. Before you get down on him I would like to hear you outplay him and his band standing OR sitting.... wit, Russian Circles is not a terribly proficient group of musicians, maybe I just put my foot in my mouth.

You can be such a web-fascist about things like sitting while playing or bad grammar.
