Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!

Hey guys I have a hard time adding a particular instrument. Every time I try to add the ESP A-I[arc] ??en? I get redirected to the "UPGRADING OUR EQUIPMENT, PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON."-page.

p.s. I reckon it's because of the name (weird characters) but this is the actual name of the guitar. Even if I translate the Japanese Kana I still get redirected to the aforementioned error-page which led me to believe that the brackets are the problem. But then again, I don't know how this website handles such strings.

Update: after I posted this I realized that 3 characters weren't showing up properly so I guess I already know what the problem is.

Everytime I submit something it stays pending and wont be submitted properly, at this point other people are posting items that i've had pending for weeks and when I try to approve them it give me a 404 error. E.g http://equipboard.com/pros/jake-ewald

The way it works is once you submit an item, it stays as "needs review" until other members agree that the item, description, and source are all correct. Some artists' pages are less known than others and might take a longer amount of time to be visited. If there is a discrepancy with the source, item, or description, the item goes under "needs improvement".

The 404 thing si weird. Tell us whether you are using a PC or a phone as well as what OS you are using and what browser. That will help us determine what may be causing the error.

I took care of your pending submissions. Very well done, but I left a comment for the ones I denied.

Hi mods, would you be able to:

Change Zayn's official site link from:

http://www.rcarecords.com/artists/zayn-malik

to the correct one which is:

inzayn.com

Looks like that joker is using another performers name just spelled differently. Inzane was the lead guitarist of a Jager band called Negative 263.

Wow, didn't know that. Thought it was just a play on his own name.

right, its not a coincidence, because no 2 guys could think of the same stage name with a goofy spelling! Its just too clever, one of them STOLE IT!

there's a spinal tap scene where they say they were originally called "the originals" but they found out someone else was using that name so they became "the new originals," but I can't find a clip on youtube... needless to say that both the Insaynes in question are probably folding bologna up right now trying to fit it into tiny little bread:

I think Boom was just yanking your chain.... I hope.

I was wondering about a little box next to the artist, or some other way to store none-gear info, i.e tuning, maybe string gauge, preffered settings on pedals, and amps, etc. Or should we just attach those to the gear itself if we can find them?

Can a moderator please remove all of the gear from "Roary Beggs" page? I know the musician personally and would like to present this page to him, however all the item descriptions are highly inadequate. I will replace all the gear immediately with proper descriptions. PLEASE!!!! and thank you

Whoa Slayerdude, you said immediately. Sounds like an urgent gear emergency.... look, review all the incorrect submissions with "needs improvement" and state why. Some of the stuff you can edit, but you can't change an incorrect item, nor can we as mods change or delete it. One of the 2 admins will have to address some of this. If you plan to use yourself as a source because you know Rory that's cool, please also support with pictures though. I want to say that's how we've been handing it when someone's guitar o bass tech comes on and sites themselves...

I just looked at the Beggs page and did a quick google of his band (just because I have never heard of them doesn't mean they aren't famous, I am old), they seem like kids in what is at best a moderately successful regional act, not international touring pros... I for one am not sure Mr Beggs needs a pro page as I doubt many people will be searching for his gear (which is not drool-worthy)

hey Michael!!! what do you think?

every time I see these regional guys creep up as pros on here I am tempted to put my old band up and create us all pages! We actually all had fairly drool-worthy stuff when we were having our run of success on the eastern seaboard of the USA...

But YOU are the one who submitted all those items.

I don't even think this guy is a legit Pro.... do you?

why does everyone have to add themselves or their buddies on here as guitar heroes? is it ego or an attempt to improve the web presence for these local bands in the hopes of getting signed? I dunno

in my day we got the word out by gigging and going o college radio and it involved a lot of travel and sweat.... these days you just make yourself a pro on equipboard, POOF instant street cred

What on earth do you mean Jim, I heard Hendrix, Clapton, Page, and Van Halen all used Epiphone eknock off Les Pauls, through BOSS Metal Zones, into Roland cubes. Hendrix, when interviewed by NME; "I use this to make metal yo"...

yes, well, of course the ghost of Hendrix is well known to favor the metalzone and roland cube....

EDIT:

it turns out Hendrix has been alive all along, BEHOLD! http://www.streetcarnage.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/hendrix70.jpg

This is a tough call. As a general rule, we've used other reputable databases like MusicBrainz, Echonest, etc to help us determine how to structure pages. However, those are also community edited databases. Ultimately, I want to modify the pro status on EB.

GEAR:
  • EarthQuaker Devices Westwood

  • Fender American Original '50s Telecaster

I feel like it would be sweet of you guys to treat us all as pros, but we aren't. Our income is not derived entirely from our music.... and the demand for people to know about our gigging setups is very low as a result of our lack of notoriety, therefore its really cluttering the site. There's a big gulf of professionality between me and, say, Jimmy Page. My ego would love to see my page on an equal footing with his, but its just dishonest. Pagey I am not.
