Identifying the gear

Oh wait indeed, Mr. Walrus!

Your ellipsis insinuates an undermining of my lack of knowledge of Vox heads. You're correct on that.

What makes you say it's an AC30 head?

could be a vintage, large box ac50, maybe a mk2 or early mk3? or even an ac100, though working examples of the 100 are rare and few have the balls to use them on stage with their reputation for flaming out during prolonged use. The head boox looks a little deep to be a 30, but tis not a great pic.... wish I could see the control panel, then I could tell you. If its candy panelel its a 30 and then we could just count the knobs to determine if its a JMI rectangular box or a modern, korg 90s RI, custom classic or custom... if tis grey panel its probably a 50, though it just might be a 30 in the square box with a grey panel, either middle period JMI or a post-JMI version like the arbiter and rose morris heads

it could also be one of the crazy 120 watt lead amps with the 5 band tonestack.... I forget the name, but they're an early 80s vox and they have been developing a following lately

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Maybe the Vox V117. As Jim said, that might be that crazy "120 watt head".

I think that's the model #, could be wrong. Might be thinking of something else. But if I recall the guy who replaced Howard Leese in Heart uses one atop it's matching ported 2x12 in conjunction with an ac30 combo and it looks a lot like an ac50 top.

EDIT:

I'm thinking of the V125 http://www.voxshowroom.com/ct/amp/uk/v125/head_cab.jpg

that's not what it is though because it has JMI style top vents and the V125 has marshall style cut-out vents with mesh, so nevermind.

The amp pictured looks too tall to be an ac30 head, new or old, but it has ac30 top vents so I doubt its an ac50 mk2 or ac00 mk1. Confusing.

The hell is that!?

And that!?

the one in the video is tough, its blurry and he's playing it T-Bone Walker style so I can't see it well, headstock does NOT look Gibson to me and it looks like the pickup may not be original, like it may be a modified acoustic archtop

bottom one is an es-295 like Scotty Moore played (I am still crushed that no one replied to the thread about Scotty's passing earlier this week, like you young bucks have never heard of the man who did more -pun intended- to create rock n roll guitar playing than any player but Chuck Berry)... the 295 is a gaudy and altogether bad-assed Gibson mid-sized archtop. Even new ones cost an arm and a leg or I would own one!

Ah, you're Scotty Moore thread. That would have most likely been a situation where you ask how I know him, and I say "because pf this thread". Apparently people hate that.

But Christ, that guy live a long time... I already did a bit of research on him, pretty cool he backed Elvis. Maybe I should try listening to him music.

it can only make you a better musician to listen to music outside of your recreational listening comfort zone

But it's demeaning if you celebrate a musician you only knew after they died, which is kind of backwards thinking.

The internet has many messed up morals.

scotty moore had to die in order for you to learn the lick from 'mystery train,' so what.... do you want to be good at guitar or cool? because its actually hard to be both

That blue pedal with the toggle switch, the one behind the Korg tuner, and the one to the right of the pink Ibanez delay. What are they?

that appears to be a radial dragster (great device by the way, Is wear by the one built into my Switchbone), most guys who use the stand alone dragster clip it to their guitar strap along with a wireless

This is mine, actually. It's a tele I'm borrowing long term, only when I went to check out what it was I couldn't find it. I've added it to my gear pics, and I've put an imgur link here: http://imgur.com/9nQjXhe

That shows the front of it, its SH, with a regular tele single in the bridge, and a generic plated humbucker in the neck, both stock I believe, regular electrics, maple neck, and rosewood pickguard. The stock says fender, but its actually a sticker, its made by squire, and it says so on the neckplate. Made in Indonesia. Its the colour that's odd, and that's why I can't find it, otherwise the same spec pretty as this: https://tse1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=OIP.Mabef68834d8f5c253710896464a4ce44o0&w=225&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0&r=0

its 90s, check to see if the wiring looks stock under the plate, I don't remember any 90s teles with a stock covered bucker

if you email fender with the serial# they will give you all the details

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Sure I'll give them an email, thanks

What kind of monster does this?!

Otherwise, I am liking the look of that tele. The colour especially. Is that like a dark wood or some kind of doughey wood colour thing, I can't tell.

Anyone know what model this Gretch is?

https://www.flickr.com/photos/nemi72/28294407412/sizes/o/

As you can see on the headstock, this Gretsch is part of the electromatic series. Next thing to do, is checking out the series for the right model.

GEAR:
  • Gibson J-45
  • Blank slot
  • Blank slot

looks like one of the recent, center-blocked Gretsch Electromatic thinlines with double cutaways

I wonder if James Bay is related to Mel bay.... who didn't have a Mel Bay guitar method book as a kid?!

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Haha, doubt it but who knows

I will guess this is a cheaper Gretsch model since it's before he got famous and probably couldn't afford the expensive guitars he is using today. Since I only have the pictures to go by it's difficult for me to find the model of the guitar, and I don't want to add it to his page yet. However, I do believe it is his guitar and not just using someone elses on a loan since I got several more photos of him with this guitar.
