I sure hope I spell this correctly, but it's good to welcome a 'Jordy' to the site. One of my top 5 favorite beers! Makes me so happy I want to go jump off the garage!

Not quite mate! Geordie! But glad you know what one is! We refer to Newcastle brown as a dog, hence the phrase, going to see a man about a dog :p

Made by a different company, originally it was made by the Tyne breweries in Gateshead I believe, the company was then bought by Heineken!

Hey dude! My influences are bassists like Steve Harris, Paolo Gregoletto, Troy sanders of mastodon, Nolly of periphery and Matt Goddard of Chiodos, I'm quite a technical player, in the sense it try to stay away from just following the guitars! What about you?

Thanks man! I'm glad you like it! The two guitarists and drummer have been playing in bands together for about 10 years (they're all about 9 years older than me!) they had already auditioned the singer, and had a male singer too at the time, when they contacted me via Reverbnation, asked me to come along to audition, I said yes and the rest is history :)

First of all... You have to visit Ireland if you want good beer ;)

I grew up on Cliff Burton, Justin Chancellor, and Steve Harris. Now I hold Alex Webster, John Myung, and Steve DiGeorgio in my highest regards.

oh! that explains it! there was a point in my early 20s where it was my favorite UK beer and I walked the dog regularly... then one day it just didn't taste the same

thanks for the info!

Lol the hello thread is going a bit off topic it seems :p Hello I'm Wouter, 20 years old and I'm from Belgium, the country of beer, fries, waffles and chocolate :p I study architectural engineering at the university of Leuven... In the little spare time I have I try to make some music, all kinds of electronic music. Love artists like Celldweller(circle of dust, scandroid etc), Varien, Deadmau5, Prydz,.. but also a lot of other artists, I like electronic as wel as guitar music (love celtic/folk metal) :)

To stay in the genre of the above answers to this post, please, Irish beer? have some Belgian beers, here's a list :p https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Belgian_beers

Having experienced both country's finest brews first hand, I have to declare a battle-to-the-death tie! Both have the most awesome examples of master-craftsmanship I've found the world over! If you play as well as the country brews you're poised for success. Welcome!

Welcome Wouter.

I've not had a great number of Belgium beers. St. Paul, Stella, and MAYBE a New Belgium Abbey once.

I say Irish beers win me over because of one company. Harp. I've tried every Guinness and Harp creation I've come across and only not enjoyed one of them (I don't remember which).

My go-to Harp bottle is the Guinness Extra Stout. It has a lot of the dark, chocolaty taste I look for but a thicker mouth feel than the original flagship beer. The one thing I don't like about a normal Guinness is how watery and thin it is.

I'm not a fan of salty bright beers like many Mexican beers and Landshark for example. I don't like beers that are too sweet like some hefeweisens. I'm the Goldy Locks of beer. I want a dark, rich, slightly bitter beer that swells the stomach, has a strong, long-lasting after-taste, and feels thick in the mouth like ice cream.

I live in the import beer capital of the united states.... the rest of the country lives in the brewski dark ages.

Not that the current flowering of microbreweries isn't fabulous too, but hey, the Delaware Valley has more of those than anywhere save the pacific northwest, and every Portland area micro distributes here. I drink a different beer every weekend if I want to thanks to the build your own 6 pack that's becaome so poular ehre that even the local supermarket does it (and offers a damn fine selection).

But I love dark beer too... porters and stouts have a home here. I recenty got really into this coffee stout by Troeg's out in Hershey PA that really does the business with a piece of chocolate cake.... black ale has been rocking my socks lately too with steak. There are a number of good ones brewed between here and Delaware. But with food the fruitier Belgians can be really fun, especially a wheat ale with fish or an abbey dubbel with a more intense wintery meal like a roast chicken. I probably get to excited about this stuff, but I'm a trained chef and also took a somalier class...

Right across the bridge in Cherry Hill where my kother in law lives we have some of the largest winestores outside of manhattan and California.... I have tasted some Bordeauxs that would change your life....

A lot of our stores have a create-a-6-pack as well. Usually it's just single bottles of everything they sell already. Micro-breweries have sprung up everywhere in the last decade. My hometown of pop.6000 had a German brewery move in called the Edelweise. San Antonio and Austin have a ton of small brew groups these days but I've not tried many local brews.

San Antonio brews some winning beers... I've ahd Edelweise and liked it. I'm just saying, philly gets EVERYTHING. I've been all over this country and only DC came close to our selection at every random store with a license to sell beer.

I'm not trying to trash Texas, you guys have a lot going for you as a state, though I can't imagine living there.... but I am a real metrosexual, cosmopolitan, liberal northerner. And I have a big mouth.... so I can't imagine surviving the 1st year without a gunshot wound.

I didn't think you were trashing Texas.... but now that you say that (grabs slowly for gun)

Just Kidding. You might feel comfortable in Austin. Austin is the most extreme area we have in liberalness (I totally did not think this was a real word until looking it up just now :) )

I've not looked into the laws of Colorado, but I suspect that I would enjoy the weather there. I had planned to move there once I was done with my education. The deciding factor is just what laws they have. I don't want to go to jail there for something I wouldn't think twice about doing here.

De Konink is not really my thing, At the moment my favorite beer from Belgium has to be Gulden Draak 9000 (http://www.vansteenberge.com/en/our-beer/gulden-draak/gulden-draak-9000-quadruple/)... Belgium is indeed lovely, besides the shitty government and the recent refugee and terrorism problems it's good to live here :)

had it, kinda sick of the abbey type beers, they were the hot shit here when I was a 'kid'

so you are not Belgian? I thought you were saying you were Belgian and your screenname has a seriously low ccountries vibe....

That's pretty cool man! I'd love to visit Ireland :)
