The Hello-Thread: Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself đź‘‹

Well, don't mind if I do. I'm Francis, I'm a 16-year old autistic (very low severity) male who lives in brazil. I found this website by accident and I've been engaged ever since. I have a very ecletic taste of music, but recently I've been more into alternative and indie rock, alongside it's subgenres. I don't have much gear, but what I lack in quantity makes up for... Yeah, nevermind. My equipment is very cheap, but my guitars are mostly good, for what's worth it.

You're at the age where you start acquiring the good stuff. Find a source of income. Save up. Look for deals. Learn to fix things. Be a trader. When you get tired of something, sell for a profit and reinvest in something more valuable. Don't invest in gear with poor resale. Never take a loss. If you can't break even at the time if purchase, think twice. Eventually you'll wonder how you got so much cool stuff.

I've always been poor, I have to be a gear pirate and a part time tech in order to have a private studio I enjoy working in. Not everything needs to be expensive. I get called a snob on equipboard, but I just love gear that does a job really well, hopefully with a bit more style than a plugin. Price isn't a factor though. An FMR RNC costs about the price of a fancy pedal and i own like 6 of them. It's a Really Nice Compressor. Many times it beats a dbx 160 or even an 1176. Plus, when I had too many to rack, I got rid of a few on facebook marketplace rather than buy another rack kit and shop for a 9th one... and I didn't lose a penny because people who know just know. Theres always a buyer fir something good. That's how gear accumulation happens.

I am totally self taught music producer with no formal training, my trademark sound is a blend of separate music genres allowing the creation of an Ambient/Downtempo/Cine Noire mixture utilizing electronic and industrial elements. My music draws you in and envelopes the senses as it unfolds and progressively reveals layer upon hidden layer of unexpected soundscapes.

My work is available on Bandcamp and most music platforms. I participated in the #AMF2 [Ambient Music Fest 2 Spooky Edition] on Twitch Fall of 2022. My film composition work was most recently featured in the closing 4th part of a reimagined score for the classic silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari at 2022’s Boomtown Music & Film Festival. In Winter 2024, I was a musician taking part in the DARK EXPERIMENTAL AMBIENT DRONE RAID Feb 11,2024 on Twitch.TV/DjRenigade Later this year, another Film Project will happen on Metropolis.

Hi, I’m Matt! I am a singer, songwriter, arranger, producer, and keyboard player from the USA. I have released two EPs of my own arrangements of various cover songs. I would consider my style to be pop, but VERY broadly construed.

In addition to my recording “career”, I am currently a substitute teacher, a private tutor, and a foodservice worker. I also sing in a gospel choir and occasionally on my church’s praise team. I am a Christian but can assure you I don’t think I’m better than you if you aren’t.

In my spare time, when not working on songs, I enjoy researching pop music history, especially as it pertains to vocal groups of the doo-wop era. Occasionally I will be able to make a noteworthy connection in my research; one such occasion led to me being cited by notable R&B journalist Marv Goldberg.

I am highly interested in synthesizers. I have my own tiny project studio (in which both EPs were recorded), but hope to one day have a home studio big enough to handle numerous full-fledged productions. My dream is to be able to work in music full-time one day - and also to own weird, rare synths such as the Ensoniq Fizmo and the Yamaha FS1R.

I have a website (https://matthewchristianmurray.com), but I am currently not posting to it very often.

Hi Matt, you have 2 tough jobs. Hang in there.

Hello I am a songwriter, guitarist and professional recording independent artist. I'm mainly a bluesman but I play also rock'n'roll, soul and jazzy tunes. My guitars are peculiar and by now maybe not too common, so if you want to know how they really sound... in a recorded song...

Hello Everyone

I play solo acoustic fingerstyle guitar. Instrumental open chord tuning stuff. I am interested in recording such music. Have recently started to get into pickup/mic systems, amps, and pedals for the same kind of music. I am a former bassist, and ambient pedal junkie. Also a bit of an amateur music gear historian. I love to learn when pieces of gear were released and follow the technological timeline! I have done deep dives into several strange corners of the gear world (parametric eq pedals for 1) so I leave some of that info in my reviews like the recent one I did for the Ibanez Pentatone EQ.

Love the site! Cool to see what my fav artists used, and to be able to contribute gear to their pages. Happy to be here!
