Description

The Cümbüş is a stringed musical instrument developed by Zeynel Abidin Cümbüş in the early 20th century. The neck can be detached from the body at the point where it is attached. In this way, it can be converted into many instruments such as the mandolin or guitar simply by changing the strings. Its general structure is similar to that of the banjo and the oud. Some parts of its body are made of aluminum. The soundboard is covered with a leather membrane. Like other stringed instruments, it is played with a plectrum. The instrument was named by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1930.
