I had the wonderful opportunity to screw around on an Oberheim DMX and the sound was just orgasmatic. I also visited Jean Michel Jarres studio (sadly he was not there) and I messed with a EKO ComputeRhythm and that was pretty cool.

What are your favourite Electronic albums and why. Personally my favourites are Cross by Justice, Autobahn by Kraftwerk, while (1<2) by deadmau5, and The Richard D. James album by Aphex Twin
(I'm from Canada so FAVOURITE is how the UK and Canada spell FAVORITE for America in case you thought it was a spelling mistake)

Is GarageBand a good software to produce music
Personally, I would recommend Ableton or FL Studio. If you are just starting out on producing music than I would suggest GarageBand. But if you are trying to produce music professionally than I would not use GarageBand. Maybe it's just me having bad experiences with GarageBand crashing, not recognizing multiple MIDI controllers, or not accepting to work with my Soft Synths. But it all comes down to what kind of music you are producing. Most EDM (and it's sub-genres) are best made on Ableton or FL Studio.
Hope this helped you.

Need help with purchasing a beginner lvl DJ controller
I would suggest the traktor kontrol S line. They are great for beginners and they work with most of the typical dj software (traktor, serato, virtual dj). The usual price is 350-600.

I don't care if they're old (Frankie Knuckles, 808 State, The Chemical Brothers) or new (Skrillex, Diplo, Deadmau5, Tiƫsto). Just tell me who they are and why they are your favorite.

"producers" of electronic music
I agree with you. The term producer should be for people who write and produce (by produce i mean making sure all the mixing goes as plan). The only reason I think artist like Avicii, Skrilex, Diplo, ect. can't be named anything else but producers. I'm pretty sure they write, compose, and PRODUCE their own music. So I'm guessing that their is no other word to describe what they do but compose and produce music.
