the gear that got away -- list your lost items here
Inspired by the "gear I once owned" thread, I am starting a thread where we can talk about our most missed pieces of sold/lost/stolen gear... I'll start!
keys:
this is a tie, http://equipboard.com/items/fender-rhodes-stage-piano-mark-i-73 (co-owned with a studio partner, lost it in the 'divorce'), http://equipboard.com/items/korg-poly-800 (reluctantly sold during a tough financial period during my divorce.... if I had known she was going to drop dead before we even saw a court room I woulda kept it and paid my lawyer more slowly)
guitar:
http://equipboard.com/items/gretsch-g6128tcg-duo-jet-electric-guitar (needed to sell a valuable guitar after my car took a crap unexpectedly when I lived in DC, having just tried to use this guitar on stage with terrible hum from the single coils resulting I reluctantly sold her.... miss her)
effects:
http://equipboard.com/items/roland-chorus-echo-sre-555 (I actually borrowed this from an old friend, then he moved to LA and told me to keep it, then he changed his mind after a few years... great CE1/Juno6 chorus, decent spring reverb & a more feature laden space echo section, I will never see his like again)
amps:
http://equipboard.com/items/supro-1624t-dual-tone (I had an old, airline branded one.... super Pagey one trick pony, couldn't justify keeping it when it wasn't even at my house, but I regret selling it because it did its one trick so well... a great bedroom amp thru inefficient the stock Jensen... loaned to a friend for so long I just told him to pay me for it already! the new ones don't sound the same)
studio:
another tie, http://equipboard.com/items/teac-model-15-mixing-console (too big for my house these days, people knock on these boards but mine sounded glorious for summing and the pres were fine for a lot of things, kinda in the 80s MCI camp... I didn't mind getting some money for this at the time and getting space for other stuff in the rec room down the road, but man, I miss having this guy), http://equipboard.com/items/audio-technica-4050-at4050-multi-pattern-condenser-microphone (stolen, probably by hip hop clients because someone forgot to put it back in the mic locker... mighta been me... I saw it sitting on a shelf and thought nothing of it, then I saw it NOT sitting on the shelf and never saw it again)

For me, I could envision something super cool like, below each section, be it for an artist or just a joe like me, a radio button where you could select "Current" or "All". That way, seeing all the pedals I've owned would be easy, but if someone wanted to see what was on my board right now, they could see that too.
I am imagining how much more of my time I will be spending on EB trying to add everything I've ever owned if this ever comes to pass....

thats the amp, like it or lump it... try replacing V1 with a bassy/middy tube maybe tung sol RI 12ax7, but the difference will be minimal.... try different speakers, something with a cloth surround bass cone? or a hemp cone? not a good era for Fender amps

yup, nothing new.... read up on the hubbub surrounding the 1st printing press and then once the Church got over that, the enormous hullabaloo over translating the bible from Latin and putting it into print for anyone to read.... and that's just on the bible front! This was the era where the church and monarchs invented book banning. I think limiting internet access for us proles is just a variation on controlling the printing press and burning printed material. Ya just can't contain ideas though. They push the pimple down and it pops up bigger someplace else. You wanna control the populace you need to be subtle. Don't limit access to information, try to limit interest, subtly encourage apathy. I think that's what the USA has been good at for the last 100 years. But Trump is about as subtle as a howitzer...
not that I buy into covertly planned internet outages.

all joking aside I think my most memorable gig was really my 1st non-school gig (or the 1st one I remember).... just a keg party when I wasn't even old enough to drive in a shitty jr high punk/grunge band.... but it was a revelation
9yover 9 years ago
well, the most recent one, of course.... c'mon, I am not getting any younger here and thousands of gigs later many of hem run together a little

internet's been strong all day despite this awful noreaster with gale-force winds

well, we just got another nasty rain/wind storm so I assume I'm next... which will suck if it happenss because I am cybercommuting today

Philadelphia PA? nope
and our weather's been shitty so there would be an excuse.... the thing about conspiracy theories is they assume that a alrge group of egomaniacal, wealthy power jockeys can agree for more than 15 minutes in order to institute a malevolent, secret scheme... and they presuppose a bevvy of loyal and discrete goons willing to carry out said scheme

I should start stomping randomly on a cheap digitech multi FX that's not plugged in while playing with my real stuff hidden LOL... maybe put my amps off stage and put some Line 6 shit behind me LOL

you have some pretty choice stuff already... nice collection

I do admire their work in the 90s
moog paired with TAL u-n for the bass
the 'chorus' melodic bits are a 303, synth1 and my own personal out of tune 200 year-old spinet samples layered up in a velocity sensitive way

the OCD is noyhing special, just take any dirtbox with hard clipping and move the diodes from ground to the gain devices;\' ground potential and achieve dynamic clipping,,,, Fulltone stole the idea from voodoo labs

doing something a lot different than I usually would with this one... approached more like a repetitive techno track but left some room for vocals
9yover 9 years ago
no offense, but that's not exactly a pedal people are looking to maintain as an heirloom.... I highly doubt you're going to be able to get that microswitch, but she probably uses pretty generic digital rotary encoders as 'potentiometers' and if you are a soldering ace you might just swap a new one on the board without burning up any traces.... or you could just go on ebay and buy another RP500 for like $25 or so, they aren't exactly valuable

yeah, because if I were your dad I woulda had to have knocked up your mom when I was like 7

I cook, I just cook 7-8 portions at a time and eat them all until they are gone. Many times, I won't even refrigerate the leftovers because I know I'll just eat them in a a couple of hours.
just wow

Your wit and wisdom surpasses me Xaq.... I just live to raz the young guys though!
Just a suggestion... drink less or massively but in very controlled intervals though. I slip up sometimes but generally i adhere to a 2Xbeers=no_internet policy. I get mouthy. Because I am a total dick...

Also, it's about time we had somebody new with extensive musical knowledge.
thanks.... now that you disrespected me on the forum you can pay me a few extra hundred bucks for the ac4 since I cut you the buddy rate... since we're not buddies and I'm chopped liver
oh, you said 'new' so nevermind, but shit I felt really bad about myself for a sec... EB is one of the few pillars of my self esteem

yeah, generally rye bread... but not as a rule.... I've had them on grilled hamburger bun bottoms too.... yum
well, I subscribe to lots of exercise regardless of the science, keeps me feeling energetic and that's a key to maintining my natural body weight for me... YMMV though
cooking your own food is a pleasure as well as being healthy and I think Americans are obese because theya re too tired to cook. I have to be dead beat not to cook a nutritious meal for me and my boy and I frequently invite friends and family over and still manage to live off the leftovers for a week of lunches. Just this week I thawed out the ham hock from my x-mas ham and made split pea soup, then I made pork marsala last night w/mashed potatos and green beans.... last week was pretty intense too. I made a few meals just from random food I ahd at home because Iw as too tired to go to the store, but they were all bad ass. I keep a stocked pantry so I can turn around and make a quick homemade marinara or knock out some easy scllopine or something without having to leave the house on a week night. Anyway... try cooking ahead... certain things freeze well in small potyions and can replace those high sodium lean cuisines when you are too busy to cook. I like to freeze individual meaty pasta sauce (add a little cream for Bolognese when reheating), chili, hearty soups (lentil, black bean and split pea survive a good month in there), homemade healthy Asian foods like Thai Basil Chicken.... stews like boef burgenoin do well in the freezer as does the filling for chicken pot pie (just buy frozen pie crust and thaw the crust and the filling a day ahead, preheat the oven when you get home and assemble it in a tin pie plate.... in an hour you have a legit pot pie... you can use a storebought rotisserie chicken for the filling and even gravy from a packet can be acceptable, though I prefer to use leftover roast chicken from my oven and my homemade giblet gravy, but I am insane)....
whoa off ona tangent, but this thread says "off topic"

I believe most diners here on the east coast call that a patty melt and its very good.... but a real once in awhile thing as its horrible for you. But if you must.... get it with bacon on it, dude. Go for it. The bacon is just the extra level on a fried sandwich.
I ahd a period of weight gain when I hit my 30s and I really didn't like it so I started to watch my portions 6 out of 7 days a week (I like to indulge on Sunday, but with home made food). I also started walking places again if it was under a mile and safe. Even the supermarket. I alsos topped using elevators unless I was late for an appointment and started running and riding a bike again in the summers to offset the inevitable calories from beer consumption in the hot weather. My experience is that keeping your metabolism up is as important as what you eat and how much. This doesn't have to mean a gym membership. Walking around your town instead of driving is a big help and it actually saves you money on gas. When you start you'll be winded the first few times but eventually your stamina gets there and you feel really good after hiking with a few pounds of groceries! After I elft the city I realized I didn't walk places anymore and I was sitting on my butt in an office 40 hours a week.... its not what humans are designed to do, so I started embracing my legs like our primitive ancestors. When I think about the stone age I am not picturing fat, sedentary cave people.

I have a naturally fast metabolism and I'm pretty physically active by middle aged dude standards and even I gain a few pounds every time I indulge in five guys. Extra bacon and cheese... Cajun fries. Heart attack waiting to happen. If you wanna lose weight that's not the place to cheat if you are dieting. Maybe once the weight is off you could consider a monthly five guys run, but otherwise? It seems like their food has more calories from fat than anything else you can eat.... even buttery French Haute Cuisine.
Not that I'm telling you how to diet or anything, but man, five guys.... so unhealthy, calorie counting aside. There must be something equally enjoyable but a little less greasy you can cheat with.... good call skiping it. Don't give in to temptation. I honestly feel a little ill the day after eating five guys because I am not used to consuming that kinda stuff and you may feel the same way if you cheat with the Guys since you've been avoiding it for awhile. Your digestive system gets out of practice...

I friended you on soundcloud the other day. They have a private inbox. I don't really do IM type of stuff usually because my life's outrageously hectic as a single parent. Real time chat is not something I can usually carry off for very long.... always wind up typing "sorry AFK" over and over and not contributing to the conversation.

oh wait, I just got that... shit, less wine with dinner or I miss the jokes
by the way, if you're going electronic, get a Cyclone Bassbot, love mine, super acid....
non-sequitur? thanks reisling

I was serious (at the time), but I also am a little inebriated,
9yover 9 years ago
I just thought it was a stick.... you know, like he has more pedals than you can shake a stick at?
9yover 9 years ago
I see a metalzone, some pink behringer thing, what appears to be an Ibanez FL10 flanger with a mysterious 5th knob.... that painted up orange one is probably just a DS1
