That's great. I'll add it right now.
Edit: photo turned out to be a little small. If you can find a bigger shot like that i can swap it in but I added it anyway. It'll do for now.

When we didn't have unlimited gear porn pics I got why people might wanna add every specific finish of a guitar in order to have their equipboard look like their collection but now you can show off your babies in all their real life glory so I feel like that really makes up for it.
But you should bring this point of view up in the new thread in mod squad. The issue is not a hill I'm willing to die on. Its whatever the admins say and I'll back them.

Can you find a pic with a white background or at least with less brown stuff in it?

Thanks for saying that, I'm tired of being mean to people this week.

I need to check submithub out. More work would be good... at least theoretically.

Early EBM/Industrial: Finally some real research
Yeah, they're a pain unless you have another device that can quantize the cv.

Early EBM/Industrial: Finally some real research
I am so unsurprised, being able to trigger the sequence start would really get you there on an oddball 12 step sequencer.

well they didn't cut corners on the synth but they didn't bother to spell check

It's a German company, right? So maybe some of our Deutsch friends can chime in. I suspect 'synthetizer' may be how it's spelled in Deutschland. I took latin and spanish so I'm just spitballing here. Schmidt claims their synths spare no expense. No corners cut anywhere. I sure would love to try one. It looks gorgeous.

Stratocaster Whammy Bar Detuning
I forgot to mention string trees. If you haven't replaced the stock string tree with a $5 roller string tree from all parts, then that's step 1. The string tree binds up more than any other string contact point on a strat. Even if your vibrato still needs fine tuning after installing the roller tree you'll find it easier to tine up when your plain strings aren't binding up on the stock, pressed metal tree :)
EDIT: apparently you can't get them directly from allparts anymore and they're more than 5 bucks, but amazon carries them and so does stewmac...
This is an unglamorous but excellent upgrade. There are all metal ones out there but the allparts version with the black plastic body rolls most freely. I've tried lots of versions, you want the ugly one.

Whats the best but cheapest hardware for colouring/saturation in 2023?
I like where you're going with this, and I remember the Electrix stuff fondly, but what if I could get my hands on a Mutronics Mutator?
Wow. The gold standard.

Do you have any recommended settings/contexts that could change my mind?
Here's mine; sell it and seek out an electrix filter factory... and if you have a filter factory already I don't know because you already have a softer standalone vcf.

What's the easiest to use hardware synth (that sounds awesome)?
Juno 6. No MIDI errors or patch memory chaos, just sweetspots.
Exactly: that's the magic of those first 3 Junos: they're one big sweet spot.
The patch memory on the 60, 106, Alpha Junos and the rack equivalents is simple as can be... it's hilarious to hear that described as "chaos", lol... but I know @jimmarchi1 agrees with you, on the grounds that patch memory added a lot of complication to synth, and therefore makes the Juno 60 more of repairs liability than the 6.
Yes... and you get the continuously variable hpf slider.
Case-in-point: my 60 has had some dead memory locations since I got it back in the '00s. I've had the parts to fix that standing by for nearly as long, but I just never seem to get to it.
I'm the second owner of my 6. It's never been serviced. It's due for preventative maintenance but it doesn't give me grief so I kept putting it off... knock on fake wood.
Interestingly, I've looked at the schematics for the 6 and the 60 and apart from the hpf slider they're not actually identical everywhere, particularly the gain staging around the vcf and vca. How much you hear it, I don't know, but the signal path is slightly different.

Stratocaster Whammy Bar Detuning
It happens to everyone else with a strat ;)
There are lots of youtube videos that walk you through strat vibrato setups that minimize the issue. Theres also a special way of using the strat whammy, you can't just expect the springs to return to exactly where you started without some opposite force from you unless you'redoing really subtle stuff. A bold push needs a gentle pull back up and vice versa. It's really one of fender's worst mechanical design but it's one of the earliest vibrato systems so you have to just deal.
There's always a chance a string will catch and go out or break but putting graphite in the slots if the nut, de-burring your saddles and floating the bridge with proper spring tension helps. There are lots of ways to tension the springs. You should do some research, try them all and figure out what works for you.

I forgot about Bennett, those are great videos.
Last time I checked youribe also still had most of Howard Goodall's BBC specials including all the episodes of his epic Story of Music. Well worth multiple viewings.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts after you spend some time with a loaded duo. Part of me is raising my eyebrow at modules with no purpose other than subtle distortion but the other half of my brain is like "more saturation please!"

Done. I put it in mic preamps, I didn't really see it as a dual channel strip since even the filter and compressor color modules don't seem to offer adjustable parameters as one would expect on a desk channel.
Have you built any of the colour kits?

If you implement a new system c as n you call call it 'flange a bogus artist'
Nono, better, can we have 'tell the engineer to mute this channel'???

Rewire was the wrong term. FL studio has a vst plugin version ove used since rewire went out, but I'm set in my ways and still say 'rewire'. I was just thinking about using it when I run out of hardware sequencers but I need a host that takes external clock because I'm not the master clock in this scenario.

I remember brainspawn. Never tried it. I was still into the receptor at the time. I had an attitude that anything good enough for depeche mode to use on the road was good enough for me. But I haven't turned my receptor on since the pandemic.
I have some question ls about gig performer. Can it sync to an external midi clock? Can it host fl studio as a plugin via rewire?

interesting stuff about the 84s and the grill cloth, thank you! Yep, I was a bit confused about them using a 65 watt rated speaker too... So I'm thinking about swapping it out for a blue for the more authentic sound. Although the m65 does let through a nice bit of extra low end with the increased handling.
If you like the lows try a g12h30 55hz cone. In my ac30s I often pair a blue with a bass cone H30, which is what Brian May does these days and he sounded great last time I saw queen with adam lambert. The heavy magnet and cone construction determine the low end, not the power handling. A broken in blue has more bass than people lead you to believe, it's just very compressed and has a different flavor than the bass from ceramic speakers. The ac15 and ac30 (apart from 60s treble models) are capable of massive low end. It's a misconception that they're all jangle. The circuit has very little voicing compared to other amps and the normal channel us essentially ruler flat response from low E to about 10khz

I'm a vox guy. I specialize in servicing handwired voxes, hiwatts and marshalls and have been keeping a 1962 ac30 alive for almost 25 years now. I know vox tube amps inside out from cliff jacks to output transformer.

It wouldn't add from sweetwater because its discontinued and sometimes that causes issues... I'm not sure why. I didn't catch that or the speaker swap at first... speaker and tube swaps don't mean a lot to me, that's just another day at the office, but I guess it's a big deal to someone who isn't handy.
I put in some of the marketing BS when I added it, how's this?

That's probably because it's the exact same amp as the regular C1 apart from the late 60s black grille cloth.
EDIT: While the construction of the vox diamond cloth is unique and actually impacts the tone (there's thin wire under the diamond stitching that add rigidity without impeding treble frequencies), the different colors don't have anything to do with the vox cabinet tonality. Is it absolutely essential to add this cosmetic variant? A non diamond grille cloth is arguably more than a cosmetic change since different cloth weave can act as a tone filter. This one is just a nod to JMI's twilight years. I'm a copper top and brown diamond man but that's because they're usually the best amps from the classic era with the really expensive transformers and capacitors while the black grille ones gave cheaper parts to meet increased demand from Beatles fans.

I'll have to check this out. My muse receptor is hopelessly obsolete and muse research is out of business... and it w as s always a pain to transport what amounted to a rack mounted pc around just for the negligible latency that my current laptop and interfaces are now perfectly capableof providing with a well programmed host.
There's so much fantastic software I keep meaning to try but never get around to it because my studio is so frickin analog. Even when I'm hybrid mixing it takes me forever to try a new plugin. There's stuff that came with my DAWs I've never even opened! Last week I opened a an eq in the latest cubase I never knew existed but it's apparently been there for years. It took me forever to fool with Sound Radix stuff. Totally mindblowing phase alignment and this brilliant eq that can track note changes and automatically move your cuts and boosts with the music. Dynamic EQ eat your heart out... that said I'm not getting rid of my 1081s.

So spicy to these western ears! I dig it. :)
It's like listening to tahini.
Ha! I hope there's quality Middle Eastern food in your part of PA.
It's an embarrassment of riches in my part of CA.
Philadelphia is no slouch on food but for middle eastern and most ethnic cuisine on the east coast ,apart from European stuff like fine French dining or serious Italian, living in DC was the jam. When I'm back in town I always try to hit all my favorite joints up and also kick it to Annapolis for old school fish fry and hush puppies. Maryland and Virginia are pizza deficient though. I had to learn to make pizza myself the year I lived there lol. That's the worst part about going down for recording work. I can deal with the lack of professional recording facilities but the lack of late night pizza is unforgivable. Nothing kills a session like having to eat soggy cardboard crust with tomato soup and string cheese on it lol! I don't know how Congress is so unproductive. I would think the lack of dining options would motivate every Rep and Senatir from a metropolitan area to get things done and head home. There's only so much falafel, Cuban and pho I can eat, man.
Being away from philly is hard. There's nowhere else to get a proper cheesesteak (though they will try) and no one has even heard of roast pork with rapini, sharp provolone and grilled long hots outside the philly metro area. I enjoy a NY hero or a Brooklyn pizza but they're not a hoagie or trwnton tomato pie. Sorry to sound like an Eagles loving Philly chauvinist but I can't disguise my civic pride. I'll trash my loser hometown all day but I always come back. Once I hit that first pothole I feel like I'm home.
I think the only thing I miss about LA apart from the sunshine is the food. I've been craving a vegetarian burrito from Benito's lately.

I've been thinking a lot lately about human recall and sense memory becoming obsolete in socio-economic contexts and what that bodes for a site like equipboard. We may need to change with the times. Chat GPT can probably tell the difference between a dbx160x and 160a but I doubt it can tell you which it prefers and why.

Typically, but I've seen a lot of oddballs, particularly SG and LPjr type models that are their own riff on a Gibson format. Invariably they're the cheap ones. The middle and high ranges were pretty slavish to specific years in appearance and the most expensive ones supposedly reproduce almost every possible detail of a single example they used as a blueprint. And then they had Gibson inspired original designs. I used to own one. Sold it to Ace Freely's tour manager.
But I digress. I was just commenting that the pics reminded me of some grecian I've bumped into.

I don't have metrics either but if you really scroll the results of any music related youtube search you get an idea of just how much music content is on there. For example, sometimes I just put some words together and then type 'song' after them and i'll get a million results from musicians I never would have known existed. It boggles the mind.
Personally I've given up dreaming of producing or mixing 'hits'... these days there's oldschool chart hits, spotify chart hits and viral video tracks and it would be an unlikely stroke of luck for a nobody to find a formula that builds a substantial audience via a single outlet let alone achieve the triple crown without some form of sponsorship. I tend to view my contribution as archival. Maybe some day something I worked on will find an audience and it's up to me to create a good version and make sure it exists in a high resolution format outside of spotify YouTube and other servers against the unlikely day that an audience takes interest in my client.
