Over all a pretty great instrument

I love the possibilities that the DSI REV2 offers and it sounds and plays wonderfully. It would get a 5/5 review from me if it wasn't for a couple issues I have with it. One being the low end is a bit lacking and I also feel DSI went too cheap on the buttons on this thing. For what ever reason I have a Hell of a time getting the buttons (not knobs) to respond. The Record button for the sequencer usually has to be pressed pretty hard and usually multiple times before it gets a response.

Sounds great, plays great, crappy craftsmanship.

This thing sounds great (especially in the neck position)! I was really impressed with how easy and fast the neck was. Given it's a semi-hollow, it's also exceptionally light weight compared to a full bodied instrument. My reason for the 4/5 review is the craftsmanship is total crap in comparison to most other instruments I've owned in this price range. For a brand new instrument, it had nicks and dings at various locations around the instrument and the binding looks like crap! You can see the over spray from the paint all over it. The F holes don't look like they've even been attempted to be sanded. Very rough around the F shapes.

Great Unit

If I could give it a 4.5/5 I would. The possibilities with this thing are endless and it has a very comparable, if not better, sound than the original vintage unit according to some. My only real complaint is I think this thing is lacking when it comes to doing bass lines.

A different sounding EHX Memory Man

VERY similar in sound to an EHX Memory Man. I was on the fence about purchasing one or to just go the distance and get the Memory Man until I came across an old thread on TheGearPage about a blind test to see if the community could identify the difference between the VM1 and the EHX MM. Nearly every community member who participated in the blind test thought the VM1 was actually the EHX MM.

Great sounding unit, cheap build quality.

THE GOOD: Over all this unit sounds great. I have no complaints in that department.

THE BAD: The unit is not the most intuitive when it comes to navigating the device

THE UGLY: The quality of the build of this unit is questionable. Much of the unit's plastic components feel very cheap and prone to breaking.

If it was possible, I would rate this a 4.5/5

Looks great and does its job well

PROS + Great looks + Ease of use + Cable check feature + SUPER light weight + VERY accurate. I had previously been using a cheap-o $10 tuner and this thing does wonders in comparison!

CONS - Though it hasn't given me any problems yet, the unit is made of flimsy plastic

put it in a rack as intended and try not to hit the faceplate with hammers when you're drunk

Easy to use and sounds like the original

  • Sounds almost identical to the original
  • Ease of use
  • Nice interface
  • Great build quality

  • Cannot track each sound separately

Nice selection, poor tone

  • Great selection of effects
  • Has the settings used by My Bloody Valentine (Reverse Reverb)
  • Ease of use

  • Destroys your tone

  • No on/off switch

  • Cannot adjust parameters / Can only use pre-sets

+/- Not the highest quality sounding unit, but can be great if that's what you're going for.

Great sound, small buttons.

  • Great build quality
  • Easy to use
  • Legendary, classic tube screamer sound

  • My one minor complaint is that the Level and Tone knobs are so small that you can't even read what position they are in

if you are using it with a strat into an old fender for the classic SRV sound its pretty set and forget though, level cranked way up, tone around half way

Good quality build and sound.

A well built unit (I'd expect nothing less from EHX). Even though it's a one-trick pony, it is very good at what it does.

A fine unit that is, like all other Dunlop products, poorly manufactured.

Nice sound, but not great. The "hum" it produces is overbearing.

Sounds ok. Built like crap.

This thing sounds alright, but the construction of this unit is pure garbage. I've had to re-wire it countless times.

Which one do you have? Mine is built like a tank and I've used it now for at least 20 years without a hitch.

johntylerkay

@Comoon I bought mine new 14 years ago.

Great sound quality, bad build quality.

They sound great. The only reason it is not getting a 5 star review is because I've now owned 3 of these things. They are just built like trash. I'm not even hard on them, taking them on the road, or using them on a daily basis.

@jimmarchi1 I haven't even heard of these before. I'll have to give one a try!
