Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!
Imagine Dragons? I'd like to know too. Here are couple of things that bother me. http://equipboard.com/pros/grethe-jorgen-ingmann - those two are separate. Grethe is the sister, and Jorgen is the brother, as far as I know.
http://equipboard.com/items/gibson-es335 - I'm really not sure if this should be kept. There are many more and better examples of Gibson ES-335 product on Equipboard.
http://equipboard.com/pros/eddie-van-halen/the-frankenstrat - I'm not sure if anything on this page is right, however, I'm unsure. The item person submitted is still right. But I'm not sure if that guy knows what open tunings are.
http://equipboard.com/pros/eddie-van-halen - There is no source for MXR EVH90 pedal. It would be nice if this bug would be fixed. It would allow the people to add the sources to items that don't have one (or just destroy the submission with critiques like Angelina Jolie's new movie was haha).
http://equipboard.com/pros/dave-grohl/martin-d-28 - I'm still in doubt here. Is this really Martin D-28? Not sure, but this looks to me like Martin D-35.
http://equipboard.com/pros/dave-grohl/tejava-iced-tea http://equipboard.com/pros/dave-grohl/spam-classic - It's obvious.
http://equipboard.com/pros/dave-grohl/dave-s-throne - I have no idea if this should be kept. It seems to me like a cute little idea, but if we are unmerciful with all the video games and stuff, should we delete this also?
http://equipboard.com/pros/nick-valensi-the-strokes - It is a crying shame to just look at his Equipboard. The same guitar is mentioned twice, no sources whatsoever...we need to change this!
http://equipboard.com/pros/john-mayer/#other-gear - Watches and sunglasses? I do not like these at all! Just like Eric Clapton's Equipboard. Unless they don't play badass pentatonic or lydian solos with them - I do not accept that as part of the gear.
http://equipboard.com/pros/billie-joe-armstrong/#other-gear - Orange OR120 is amp head, Converse should be deleted ASAP (massive cringe over that), BBE Supa-Charger is just a power conditioner/power supply, and Gallien-Kruger is just an amp. I see no necessary "other gear".
http://equipboard.com/pros/noel-gallagher/#other-gear - 1. WEM Dominator MKIII is just a combo amp, nothing else. 2. And why is Neumann U67 listed under studio equipment? Just a microphone. 3. Just because someone made his pedalboard reconstruction, it does not necessary mean it is right. Boss DD-7, MXR Dyna Comp, Boss TR-2, Boss HR-2, Ibanez TS808 and other pedals which show the reconstruction should be deleted immediatly.
http://equipboard.com/pros/jimmy-page 1. I'm not sure if Sonic Wave Theremin is an effect pedal, is it? 2. Hiwatt Custom 100 Jimmy Page model is an amplifier, not a studio equipment. 3. Vintage Univox 6x12 cabinets confuse me. I would not list that as amplifier, but something different like cabinets? We need more detailed categories - although I admit if sorting out the effects pedals for the pro would be the bigger mess than the one I make when I have too much free time and WiFi connection.
More Equipboard members should also add photos to the artists that don't have one. I tried as much as I could, but there are still thousands and thousands of artists that need their photo, or some basic info.
Why the heck, when I add the genre to artist, like rock, it says "genres removed", and then it lists just the genres I need?
And why do we still don't limit people. Some just have crappy submissions, and I understand that mods have shitloads of gear to check and correct. We don't need "my roomate was Jack White's guitar tech" submissions!
Oh look, my Gear IQ will reach 20,000 soon. Well, I'm proud of myself haha.
And does Equipboard have an office? I want to see the photos of how the office looks!

Well, in Croatia it sucks major balls to be a listener to rock music.
Every band is underrated here.
But, I do think Omega (great Hungarian prog rock band), Haim, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds seem really underrated to me. What do you think about that?

Not really a complain or everything, just thought I would share the Noel Gallagher's setup, with NME Godlike Genius award between THD Hot Plates... lol xD
I <3 Noel Gallagher and I <3 this photo. Mind if I post to the Equipboard Facebook page?
Absolutely. <3

Why doesn't updating data about the pro's gear get any Gear IQ?
10yover 10 years ago
Do demo videos count as an artist using gear?
Okay, now, this is pretty much a huge topic to rant about.
But, I do count them, considering they played it, and also, Equipboard has question like "What item have you seen with artist?" not like "Oh goodness, okay, what item have you seen with artist? We do not include those guitar shop demonstrations where they are all cool and chill, but cannot play a normal set irl."
So, if there isn't noted, I still count them as submissions.
With all the sorrow and regrets I'm going to have after saying this, but fuck my 200 and something Equipboard I made for Rob Chapman.
Or Phil X. Or Rabea Massaad.

I think a couple of mine submissions that are wrong are included as well...
Accepted submmisions?
What wizardy is this!?
Hahahahaha, it was a giant wizardy before. A wizardy where you argued with them mods about model - some even added the wrong model.
There are plenty of expamples- just look at the Billie Joe Armstrong's Guild from Bridge School Benefit- which model nameis all wrong, yet still accepted.

Massive gear identification needed!
(from left to right) 1. unknown footswitch 2. Vox AC15 (?)
yeah, that's a dead ringer for a 90s marshall manufactured ac15, a pretty decent sounding amp in my opinion, but not much of a reissue as its less like a real ac15 than even the current handwired and custom classic, but I am pretty sure its not vintage or a CC, there are some telltale cab features, y'know?
- unknown
its rack with a power conditioner, some kinda preamp that looks kinda dyube works and then an effects processor? photo is hella grainy, man
- unknown amp head
Zinky Mofo
- unknown cab
looks like a stagecraft 1x12 cab, not the heirloom series cabs or maybe an avatar 2x12 w/o the logo
for the pedals, I will look at them when I am in the mood to sort out your numbering, I am pretty sure I recognize more than you identified
Hold on, there are few more I identified when looking at the photo again.
There is also TC Electronic Ditto Looper, there is also Boss FV-50, and there is also FW-3 in the left corner. That green pedal is some sort of Suhr pedal, I sure that this is one. Ernie Ball Expression Pedal is there,
The blue pedal is definitely some kind of DOD pedal.

Massive gear identification needed!
So, AJ Dunning posted this on his Facebook page, and this is massive. I tried, however, a lot of gear is still missing. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10204139141936738&set=pb.1171508391.-2207520000.1446390031.&type=3&theater
(from left to right) 1. unknown footswitch 2. Vox AC15 (?) 3. unknown 4. unknown amp head 5. unknown cab 6. EHX Memory Man 7. Line 6 MM4 8 - 12. Unknown pedals 13. something 14. Boss GE-7 15. TC Electronic PolyTune 16. Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe 17. could be TC Electronic Vortex 18. Foxx Tone Machine 19. EHX Ring Thing and everything else is unknown. As I said, there is a lot to research so, I will update if I found something.

This could be Fender Telecaster Deluxe, right?

It's got the custom ashtray thing, and I'm sure that's a single-hum configuration.

Is that a sitar Noel Gallagher is playing? I don't know really, even if we verify it as sitar, it would be nearly unpossible to see who made it. This was taken at 2007. recordings.
But what is that microphone that is visible? http://www.bbc.co.uk/radioassets/photos/2007/6/15/22173_2.jpg

So, you prefer other music? I don't know, I'm just pointing out the gear I found and that I need the name/just a confirmation if that is the correct gear.
I'm happy to help, I am bumming around today, but yeah, I don't know who most of these guys are, and while I remember when 'Buddy Holly' came out I was not a big fan of weezer or greenday being a little too old to catch that post-grunge train
Those look like 2 different guitars in fact...
yeah they do, one looks spruce topped and one looks like cedar maybe
I really don't know. Brian Bell plays this Stratocaster in "Beverly Hills", however, I've found one photo of him, which isn't really a strong evidence, but, it will do. It is somewhere live, could be Weezer show.
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQNmXUuloUEIqNsTnMQ3-zrXiS_2FGj9umI3xYCzzMiyW44YSf16g
He played "Pork And Beans" on some kind of 3/4 classical guitar. I don't know, it is almost impossible to find the model, I might try with this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQnT3psRi7Q
This looks like Epiphone Frontier, however, it doesn't have this decorated pickguard, so I'm unsure.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8c-U163-y0
In this video, Patrick Wilson plays somehting that looks like Martin D35, pretty unsure about it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfQDF9PLBbU
I have no idea if you are fluent in this or not, but he is using some software, and I don't know the name of it.
In the same video, at 1.19 minute mark, there is something he is working on, and the plate is on top, right next to "Recording the Beatles" book.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7E76U2jsmQ
Wilson is playing here something that looks like orange Charvel, I need the model name. He also uses something that looks like Shubb capo on it.

I seriously doubt that this is Collings...but this logo could say anything from Collings to Ventura ES-335 knockoff.
its really unusual to see an unbound fingerboard on a 335 or knockoff, only the earliest '58s and the 80s/90s studios had unbound fingerboards but the 1st gen studios have no F holes... an\ bottom of the line Epi dot could fit the bill but the headstock is too small... got me, a lot of these videos are too blurry to be useable
Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol is worth mentioning here. For acoustic rendition of Wonderwall, he used this acoustic which I don't know the name of...
blurry and grainy, no idea what sort of acoustic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmrZLIWxRkM
What is this exact guitar? It is noted on Wikipedia that this is 6120 New Nashville, however, it doesn't look even close to it.
probably not, more likely its a Tennessee rose maybe or even a 6122 gent of some sort, videos a bit blurry and dude won't hold still.... looks like current production, I lost interest after the first real closeup with the guitar was too bitty and brief to really ID the distinguishing features like what type of bigsby arm etc
Well, I do agree about this policy with music video artists - however, I think we would prefer to see them with all kinds of gear they have used. Maybe it is good to keep it that way...
So, you prefer other music? I don't know, I'm just pointing out the gear I found and that I need the name/just a confirmation if that is the correct gear.
I have found some photos of Lightbody with this guitar on V Festival 2009, maybe those should help... (not all of those are from V Festival 2009).
Those look like 2 different guitars in fact...

Brian Bell is mostly playing here some kind of Stratocaster with fat CBS logo. My thoughts are that this is indeed some kind of 70's Stratocaster with changed pickups.
Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol is worth mentioning here. For acoustic rendition of Wonderwall, he used this acoustic which I don't know the name of...

I still try to look for more of Millard's gear. In the music video for "Beginning of the twist", it was noted that he played some candy red ES-335 style guitar.
Now, this looks a lot like Taylor's headstock, but Taylor didn't produce ES-335 styled guitars...did he? Anyway, here is the video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7eOGf0mnYg
Moving on, other guitar player I admire is Brian Bell.
He played some kind of ES-225 guitar in music video for "Buddy Holly". I need a confirmation whether is that ES-225 or not.

And how does the jacket feel?:)
Feeling dorky since before hipsters made dorkiness cool (I think I got it in 1993)
I know that this guitar isn't Gibson L00, I noticed it as soon as I wrote down this nonsense. Gibson L30 was/is really popular for this dark colour, and L4 is usually in some kind of bursts, I would definitely say that this is Gibson L30.
I am leaning towards an L30 because of the finish, good deduction there
Guess what I have found? The original photo! This is definitely Jerry Jones Coral Thinline Longhorn! Thanks for that! Or do you have a second opinion for that?
Its a '69 Coral Thinline Longhorn by danelectro. Headstock's a dead giveaway, ad I am pretty sure the earlier years for this guitar didn't have a pickguard. Bingo.
I'm still pretty sure that this is Fender American Vintage '62 Telecaster...look at this photo I found of it in surf green...it is identical to one that Flansburgh plays...
could be, all vintage appointed Tele models in surf green look the same in a photo.... Fender makes like 4 different versions of a slab rosewood fretboard tele with vintage bridge in this finish currently
Moving on..Barry Hyde from Futureheads played interesting guitars. (that guy without glasses)
I have actually tried to contact him, but no replies were given. Anyway, I have stumbled across this photo, in which he seems to play something that looks like Guild D-40 Bluegrass Special, but I am definitely wrong, it is something similar, but not a D-40.
It doesn't look big eough to be a dreadnought unless he is really, really big. But all the Guild 000s I know of have more rounded shoulders. If you look it doesn't have large block inlays nor does it have straightforward dots in every fret, go with that when researching. It ooks like maybe small blocks? Anyway, its an oddball. Reminds me of a D130 maybe, but only somewhat...
http://static3.imagecollect.com/preview/4964/82b13ef77708693
(I would also like to know what does the guitarist with glasses, mr. Millard play, I can't find the name or model or anything for this acoustic!)
Ross Millard is noted to play Telecaster Custom, but he also played Gibson ES-335 Dot (unsure if it is 335 or 333 or 339 or 330).
a 330 is an epi casino, I think a 333 should have uncovered humbuckers stock and no 'torch' inlay on the headstock, a 339 is WAY smaller.... its just a black dot reissue of some sort
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vKrirArL26I/TA-VSrMwX-I/AAAAAAAABLM/JCzDzLLlxSo/s1600/ross.jpg
This could be Fender Telecaster Deluxe, right?
no, you can see the ashtray bridge under his right hand, its a custom
Lean off it, it is not L30, especially because body doesn't look like it. This guitar seen has body more like an acoustic, the L30 has a different body. The logo used was used on many Gibsons, it is this vintage logo which might indicate that this is a vintage guitar. Anyway, I will contact They Might Be Giants. Or at least, I will try. Last month, Guild responded me about question which guitar was Courtney Taylor-Taylor using.
I can't find the photo of thinline Longhorn, I just put it as Danelectro Coral Longhorn. I couldn't find the 1969. one, so on the photo, it is 1968. one. Anyway, this submission should be valid. Many thanks about that!
I can ask Fender or someone about it, but it seems like I will get the same answer you gave. Those could be various Telecasters...
Update on Guild guitar : first, I thought this was a Guild F30, and it seems now that this is Guild GAD50, which has pretty much the same inlays as the pictured guitar.
Yup, just an ordinary Gibson ES-335 Dot...many thanks for that.
I have this theory that this Telecaster Custom he played during the years could be repainted into this, what do you think? I mean, last time I saw him with Custom was this Rockness 2013. I believe.
10yover 10 years ago
John Flansburgh from They Might Be Giants used (or at least he's been seen) with a couple of odd guitars.
http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120213035817/lefthand/images/5/55/John_Flansburgh.jpg - this Gibson archtop which looks like L00, but I'm unsure.
I thought you were right, but though the pic is awfully small, this guitar CLEARLY has F holes and an L00 is an oddball archtop with a round flat-top style soundhole... there may be a few vintage years where the L00 had F-holes, but you can do that research yourself on google... it could be a non-gibby too... a Framus, a Kay, Harmony, it does appear to have a Ginny 'mustache' headstock, but boy is that picture small! Its most likely an L4 or an L30 I think....
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01162/arts-graphics-2005_1162266a.jpg - I believe Danelectro had the model that looks like this.
its like a hollowbody dano longhorn, but Neptune NJ never cranked out a hollow version, nor did they make anything but 4 and 6 string longhorn basses.... therefore I guarantee you its a Jerry Jones custom thinline longhorne, probably a 1 off as I have seen his longhorn solid guitars, basses and double necks, but NEVER a hollow version and I don't know of anyone else who makes (made, JJ retired) high end Dano-inspired stuff
http://equipboard.com/pros/john-flansburgh/fender-telecaster - I know, I might have screwed up, but I definitely need second opinion. I think this is Fender American Vintage '62 Telecaster.
probably, could be a custom shop closet classic, or even a mexi classic 60s, or a partscaster like my favorite tele, so stick with the description you have, there are too many generic looking rosewood board tele models to count and they are all available in surf green... its a tele and a tele is a tele is a tele, gotta love it.... incidentally, the jacket he's wearing is a 70s Jordache curdory sport coat, I own that jacket
And how does the jacket feel?:)
I know that this guitar isn't Gibson L00, I noticed it as soon as I wrote down this nonsense. Gibson L30 was/is really popular for this dark colour, and L4 is usually in some kind of bursts, I would definitely say that this is Gibson L30.

I think it is much better (if it is possible to determine) to add the specific model.
http://equipboard.com/pros/brian-bell/gibson-explorer-electric-guitar - this is 2001 Gibson Diamond Sparkle Explorer. Only 49 or so are made.

early '00s singlecut thinline with the artcore headstock, block inlays... it doesn't look like a figured bubinga top, that would jump out even at this odd angle PLUS it has a black pickguard, not red... so you are correct, its an Ibanez artcore ab75 in transparent red instead of the more common tobacco burst... I'll bet he's got some nicer guitars now!
What else ya got? I can name that guitar in.....

I thought it this way.
If you don't post crap submissions on Equipboard, you probably left some gear out that musicians played, especially because you had no clue what was the pro playing.
If this thread passes the mods' approval, I would like to use this one as thread in which you can post gear you found but you have no idea what is it.
If you are unsure of the gear's name, please post it here : you (probably) will get an answer. It would be very kind if you thanked the person who found the name of the piece of gear in the approved submission.
Go on!

http://equipboard.com/pros/noel-gallagher/gibson-les-paul-custom-electric-guitar - let's check out this submission.
I think someone wanted to say this - He plays this one live. Sometimes, it is tuned to Open G.
I hardly believe Noel Gallagher has ever tuned to something except standard. He used capo only.
He played. This could be the guitar Marr gave him.
Anyway, you can rarely find the submissions that are fully correct, and are made after this moderator approval thingy was ceased.
http://equipboard.com/pros/noel-gallagher/fender-telecaster - Yuuup, that is Telecaster and this guy made a good job!
http://equipboard.com/pros/billie-joe-armstrong/gibson-j-45-guitar - This seems like a fine-made submission!
http://equipboard.com/pros/billie-joe-armstrong/red-fender-stratocaster - that isn't Fender! It is a strat-styled guitar, but it is definitely not Fender. People should check what are they even doing before they even start a submission!
http://equipboard.com/pros/billie-joe-armstrong/1975-fender-telecaster-custom-black - Not even close. Not 1975. not Telecaster, not Custom, not Black, and not even Fender!
http://equipboard.com/pros/billie-joe-armstrong/gretsch-g5420t-electromatic-hollow-body - Are people blind? Definitely not 5420T, it is a rumour that this is Brian Setzer Hot Rod model, but it is just a rumour. Should I submit a rumour? No.
http://equipboard.com/pros/billie-joe-armstrong/1962-fender-stratocaster-olympic-white - not 1962. and not olympic white colour.
http://equipboard.com/pros/billie-joe-armstrong/gibson-b-b-king-lucille-electric-guitar - Yuuup, who cares about how inlays look, and headstock? Who gives a damn. This is one of his many ES-335's.
http://equipboard.com/pros/billie-joe-armstrong/gibson-les-paul-goldtop-electric-guitar - "Oh Love" was usually played with Gibson Les Paul Juniors? This was only used for photoshoot, nothing else?
http://equipboard.com/pros/billie-joe-armstrong/1950-s-gibson-les-paul-black-beauty - maybe Gibson Les Paul Studio, anyone ever heard of that?
This is only small part of it, but it seems like people don't give a shit (sorry for the phrase, but I'm frustrated about it), about submissions, all they care about is DAW's, plugins and other things that are in a giveaway....
Hardly anyone submits items with heart and soul, all they care about is SONAR...

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!
What really bothers me is that people have no idea about capitalization and punctuation.
Can't just people watch what they are writing when they are making submissions?
http://equipboard.com/pros/billie-joe-armstrong/red-fender-stratocaster - Please delete this submission. It is wrong in so many ways.

But if you are looking for the name of that model...

http://equipboard.com/items/fender-telecaster - Actually a Blacktop HH.
Actually, John Mayer's Telecaster appears to be 1952 Fender Telecaster, judging by the wear.
Alex Turner's submission is unclear ; it could be Squier Butterscotch Blonde Telecaster, no marking is visible.

http://equipboard.com/items/fender-telecaster - why don't we put some sort of ordinary, dull and boring Telecaster here? I mean, every artist that has only "Fender Telecaster" has a dull, boring looking model like this.
It sure doesn't have Seymour Duncan JB pickup attached to headstock, while 1/4 of the body is cut off, and bridge is replaced with Gibson ES-350's one, and inlays are freemasonic Hello Kitty's. It looks dull.
Here are my suggestions for Telecaster's future photo...

If you still didn't die of boredom, I'd like to know your thoughts.
Thanks!

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!
Usually, when I submit a piece of gear on Equipboard, it can happen that mods put the wrong model, even though I submitted the right model.
http://equipboard.com/pros/keith-richards/gibson-es-335-electric-guitar - here is the problem, I am talking about.
http://equipboard.com/pros/keith-richards/fender-telecaster-thinline-electric-guitar - If we are talking about ordinary Thinlines, I would rather suggest photo like this.
https://stupidprojects.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/0137402321_xl.jpg
Current photo on EB profile is actually Fender Telecaster Thinline Super Deluxe (not a Big Block model, it fooled me too!)
http://equipboard.com/pros/keith-richards/1964-martin-acoustic - Just no. That "Martin" acoustic needs to have a model name.
http://equipboard.com/pros/nick-valensi-the-strokes - Valensi's profile is a major confusion. Submissions without sources should be deleted. Immediatly.
However, I did find some of the sources for his gear :
Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera - http://rpp.pixafy.netdna-cdn.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/af9751f3661a3491b2930f4decb97c49/6/4/6438_2.jpg

Duesenberg - where the heck did you get that he plays Fullerton CC? I found him with Double Cat 6.
Epiphone 335 - Never seen him play Epiphone 335, but I've found a photo of him playing Gibson ES-335, might be sunburst.

http://equipboard.com/pros/alex-turner-arctic-monkeys/gibson-j-200-standard-acoustic-electric-guitar - Just Gibson SJ-200, which was aldready submitted.
http://equipboard.com/pros/jimi-hendrix/rickenbacker-330-electric-guitar - I would rather suggest that this is Rickenbacker 360.
http://equipboard.com/pros/john-frusciante - Dayum, that is a lot of submissions without sources.
