EB1230, If I had enough $$ for a HiWatt I would try them. I'm sure they are tasty when they hit that breakup point. I live in a apt. complex so that would be difficult. There's a Sam ASh & a Guitar Center close so I can always try them there. I am curious how they do sound with just their disotrtion and nothing else. Thanks Jim, I'll probably go with the Orange Dark Terror and maybe mod it down the road. I didn't know Mesa's were such a pain for a serviceman. What is it, the circuitry or the whole ball of wax? If the transformer switch is easy I might do that.

To evilbassist1230, you're lucky bro. I can't afford a Sunn Model T original/Reissue. I wish they made a small wattage Sunn Model T. I'm thinkin' of getting a Orange Dark Terror instead of the FYD I have listed in my "wanted" list. \m/

It's a Randall WH40 which means WarHead 40 watts. I know it sounds awesome on a YouTube vid where Dime plays it. Plus it's hard to find which made me want it even more, ya know? I wish Sunn made small wattage Sunn Model T's, lol.

Nothing much brotha, I'm thinkin' of getting an Orange Dark Terror as my low wattage amp instead of the more expensive FYD amp I have in my "wants" list. I found 1 pretty cheap one CL in the SoCal area. This is pretty much a "done deal" in my mind, I was just throwing it out there to see what other guitar players have to say about the Orange Dark Terror. It matches the kind of music I prefer. I watched a video pitting a Mesa Boogie lucnbox amp against the Dark Terror and the general concensus was that the Orange was better than the Mesa Boogie. I hope she's good with pedals. What do you have going on lately? Did you see Bryce Harper run out to the umpire the other day? Thoughts? Lol

Well my Crate is AB type amp, I'm not sure if any of the above information will affect the tube switching out.

I don't think of stuff from the 90's & 2000's as vintage also I was talking about other stuff. Like a Riviera built Fender, etc.

I watched a video one time saying the Original Orange ThunderVerb 50's came out with different power tubes that's how you could tell the old from the new. I know most of my stuff is not vintage but would love vintage gear over the stuff I currently have like a ROSS Compressor, etc. I agree, "vintage" is like 70's & older but some stuff is harder to find ya know? I thought the ThunderVerb 50 was from the original Orange.

Yes vintage, like one of the ones 1st built whenever production 1st started. Whenever that was.I don't know what tubes are interchangeable. I wanted to get my Crate rebiased but nobody I contacted in SoCal wont do it. Maybe it's harder than I think. Guys on YouTube make it look simple, lol.

Well Jim I agree with you on the Oranges. I wish I had a "Vintage" Thunderverb 50. They use different tubes in the power section rather than those damn EL-34's. I'd like to say 5881 or 6550's or maybe KT's. I don't need or want a ThunderVerb 200. That's too much wattage for me. That's why I'm looking for a ThunderVerb 50. I cannot find a Sunn Model T under a grand. If you guys know something I don't, fill me in, okay? Thanks.

I remember when they were cheap also. What are you playing through now? Some guy has a Budda TwinMaster Plus head in Palm Springs. I wonder how it sounds. I also wonder if it's pre-Peavy or not.

Hey Jim "if" it puts out the tones I'll buy it. Wish I would've bought an Sunn T in 2002. They were SO cheap. Then amps like Orange amps, Green Matamps come along also ya know. I know Orange amps were around before but didn't come back on the scene until just lately. Hovercraft, it's alot to choose from, lol ha ha.

Yes but Sunn model T's put out some awesome doom tones Jim. We all know about Soldano's & Lee Jackson modded amps. Are you working today or what? I gotta leave later to apply at some MJ dispesaries. Do you prefer 5150 or 5150 Pt.2 . I either want a Orange ThunderVerb 50 or the Buddah SuperDrive 80 I've seen on CL. Also Sovtek puts out some mighty Doom metal tones also. Which tubes do you like. In my next amp I want something different like 5881's, 6550's, or even some KT's. My Crate has EL-34's. I want something that sounds different.

Those are nice also if you're talking about the Model T but even the reissues are $1200-1500. No telling how much the OG's are. I'd like a ThunderVerb 50 or Mesa 50 Cal+(Pepper Keenan). I'm gonna acquire a Boss Bass EQ soon, my friend Rob has one he don't need. I Think I'm gonna be good on pedals unless I run across 1 I gotta have, ya know? Anybody need a regular Dunlop Crybaby for about $50?

Guys I'm looking to get one of those small WH40 even though they are hard to find. If I can't find one I'm gonna go with a FYD low wattage MarCh amp. It has a Marshall preamp and a power section of a Fender Champ, Hence the Mar- Ch. Also I like other music besides Pantera, ha ha ha lol. Dime is obviously a GOD \m/ .

What kind a music do you enjoy playing. If you want a harder sound you might want a guitar with humbuckers. Now there is some effects that will make your Strat sound heavier. If you find the right effect try downtuning to drop D or lower. If you need some advice ask away kiddo.

If one of those pedals are creating the tones you're searching for get the one you search for. BUT...the RAT pedal with white writing is the most coveted. If you search for it you can obviously see the difference in the writing. Rock on \m/

Hey dude, well you have great tastes in amps that for sure on top of heavy metal music. Pepper Keenan from COC/Down uses a Mesa 50 Cal+ for the Deliverance album tones. On stage he uses a 50 Watt, yes 50 watt Orange Thunderverb & Woody Weatherman uses a Mesa Boogie Rectifier. You can get great tones from the 50 watt version. You really don't need a Triple Rec. unless that's what you really want. I have a Crate VFX 50 watt combo & that MF'er is screaming loud bro. Just put a awesome tube pre-amp pedal along with pedals/effects of your choice & pick your sound. I haven't perfected my sound by then Eddie Van Halen hasn't either. Brother if that's the style of music you wanna play stick with good acoustics. I eventually wanna get a gibson chet atkins sst just for acoustic stuff. I play metal so I stick with metal guitars. I hope I can give you some helpful advice bro.
