mesa amps are expensive. so are gym memberships. get both together and buy a boogie f-50! carrying this lump in and out of your house/car/venue is a small workout in its self. the f-50 gets a little overshadowed by the more expensive and desirable mark range but I think its a little unjust. I got my limited edition blue (1 of 25 in the world apparently) from a musicians swop site. I swopped an old fender jag I had no use for so both parties were happy. my other amp had dropped a valve again so I decided to get another one when I impulsively swopped a guitar for this with no prior thought or consideration. first impressions, this amp is LOUD. it took a while to tame and scope the tones from the off but I only use the clean channel most of the time as I use pedals. massive headroom and volume on tap are welcome features of this amp. I have only flirted with the dirty end of things but it seems really crunchy and it can make demons weep with splendour if that's what your after. it takes pedals exceptionally well too. the build quality puts the Alcatraz architect to shame. this thing really is like fort knox. if this broke I would seek a replacement but I just don't see it faulting - besides the usual valve amp issues.

I got a massive bundle of these from a friendly welsh lad on ebay. I paid £110 posted for 26 plugs, a load of cable and the jackets and wots not. making the cables is a doddle, only 50% of them worked first time but I noticed that there's a few steps that make a better connection. like cutting the cable with a Stanley knife instead of snips, and allowing the cable to fall as you screw the cap on instead of holding it at the end angle (the cap cuts a slither of outer away to ground the cable). I almost lost my temper and was looking for the cat to take it out on, but then after a few goes it becomes second nature. also get a multimeter to test them. rubbing your crotch against your amp trying to get a note from a guitar and a 2" patch cable is a bit uncomfortable. especially when my other half has questioned my relationships with musical equipment in the past... aesthetically they are tidy once cut to length and mine are the red so there's a bit of pop from the darkened board. they are .155 gauge so super flexible and slim too. sound wise, after all the messing about making them work and practicing the right methods they are worth it. I can definitely hear a difference in tone using these instead of the old tramps bootlace jobs I was using before. these are dear but if you're looking for the final steps in finishing a pedal board off and your more ocd than a German schedule, these are a good investment. now that my ears have sampled these I don't see me ever using anything else. I've been using them for about 2 months and had no issues. I've heard of people using locktite and that to prevent the screws from slipping out of the plugs but I think the jackets (£1.25- 1.50 a piece but my set come with them...) prevent that problem. you cant put a price on tone....

no wonder these things are dear...
money. we all want it, work for it and then reluctantly spend it on things we find we have to own at some point or other. I paid £249 for my flint but if I had to pay the full asking price of £299 (usually) I would in a heartbeat. the reverbs are incredible. especially the haunting 80s one. the trem is super too. simple as hell to dial in and small enough to fit on any board. this is going no where, and if it broke tomorrow id easily sell one of the kids to replace it.

just buy it. trust me. ive been through countless delays. some busy some simple some dear some cheap. thgis lives on my board and youd have to murder me to get it off. worth every penny and more.

I got this for a song my covers band were doing which was saturated in wah and I couldn't be bothered exercising my right leg for 5 mins every gig. its hard to dial in an accurate pattern I think personally. but if you want wacky nonsense when playing drunk in the kitchen look no further. I paid only 100 quid for mine too which is a bargain.

just buy it you wont be dissapointed.
I acquired this on a whim as a lad I know needed a borrow and used this as collateral. mines the early chrome one (sexy as hell) which looks miles better than the newer white ones. the voice knobby is fantastic and helps make all sorts of tones. I do have one gripe though... when in vibrato mode it volume drops worse than a three dollar hooker.

I bought this as a flanger for one song my covers band play. i didn't care for it mainly but its earned a place on my board as a keeper. as a flanger its great and as a chorus/flanger thing its great. as a chorus its rubbish... got mine cheap at 55 quid including the wall wart. its not the best 55 quid ive ever spent...(ive been to Amsterdam, but that's another story) but its up there.

Great but be sure its what you want.
I bought this in a drunken stupor of madness, sat in my back garden eating barbecue one night, armed with an Ipad and a credit card. I thought lets see what all the fuss is about. I paid a small fortune for it on reverb but waiting lists are for suckers right??! anyway it arrived and i plugged it in. just as I did that a small unicorn foal, being ridden by a pixie landed at my pedal board and farted a rainbow... nah. mine is the high gain red side version. it does exactly what is says on the tin. one side for a bit of crunch the other for a bit more. simple as. I don't wanna get into the whole snobbery of transparency and all that palarva, but it does sound very very good. its build quality is excellent and lets be honest it does look amazing. I over paid for it though and I don't think any overdrive is worth the inflated price. if you can be bothered to wait its worth the asking price from analogman but in my opinion not the asking prices used.

no regrets wotsoever.
I bought this to free up space in place of a CS-2. I was a bit sceptical due to the simple layout and fewer knobs but I couldn't be anymore wrong. I have this on all the time and set and forget. the attack knob is interesting and opens up a bit more customisation. built solid as a rock and come with a wall wart too. I don't think I will ever replace this comp.

good but could be better.
I got this as an alternative to a traditional sized tuner to free up space. the soft touch switch is good and its accurate during tuning. a few different modes to suit tastes too. one gripe is the size of the battery compartment door. as I ran out of power outlets on my brick I use this on battery power and because the door is so big you are limited to the amount of Velcro you can put on the bottom of this. all my other pedals are screwed down using the bike chain method but that isn't possible with this either.

it is a great pedal but I recommend the cheaper tuners

hi tomhiss, I got this at PMT in Manchester England for £47 as they price matched online, at this price I think this is really competitive . I tried some cheaper alternatives when I first started playing but they didn't seem as responsive or as easy to see.

its a VERY affordable pedal tuner, my pitchblack I had ran me less than the TU2 that preceded it and the Polytune that followed it. What the heck?! and it was great value for dollar... I do really like the polytune though.

decent wah but could do with easier access to switches.
tons of sweep and responsive to the internal dipswitches. excellent build quality and high end components, what's not to love?
