My first synth

My first synth and still going strong, bought in 1981. It has one oscillator and a sub-oscillator it sounds huge.

Outstanding

This is an excellent piece of kit and very versatile, I have added two extra cards inside for added sounds. Even though it’s some age it still sounds fresh. I particularly love the Roland pianos and strings.

Built Like A Centurian Tank.

I bought this keyboard second hand in 2005, it arrived badly damaged, the plug had been pushed through the case just below the LCD and had broken the circuit board underneath. It still switched on and played, although the performance memory couldn’t be accessed, so no new performances could be made or saved. I tried at the time to get spares or a reasonable repair - all to no avail. However, just this week, April 2019, I’ve located what I need, a new case and circuit board. All of the time in between buying and now, the keyboard has been in my garage, uncovered and I’m sorry to say unloved. However, I brought it into the house yesterday cleaned up the outside, removed grass and dirt. I switched it on and it sprung back to life, sounds great. So once new bits arrive it will join the ranks of my set up. Amazing, built like a tank. Yamaha You Rock

Vanity

I bought this because I liked the look of it and convinced myself I would use it a lot. I don't but I still like it, it's straightforward to set up and use out of the box but more complex if you want to do more than use one module with it, I have three modules, you can do lots of clever splits and so on with it, but the most I've done it to be able to change midi channel with a button push and set a specific sound to be triggered by a pad. So I've not done a lot.

Reminds me of a Vin Diesel movie

This keyboard really does remind of a short section of the first Triple X movie he made. There was a scene where he said " I want everything in " anyway, I find that this work station has "everything in" maybe that's why they called it Triton Extreme. I also added the Moss board, which I am delighted to say I got for free from Korg. It does everything and is my other main board. Samples, sequencers, arpeggiator, splits, combinations ( like the Kurz set ups ) programmes. It's extremely flexible. Pianos sound great, although if I'm honest I prefer my Kurz for them, really there is every kind of synth and keyboard sound you can think of, it's also got a live section so you can tweak on the fly, and programme too. The sounds are all very high quality and useable, I haven't come across one I don't like yet. You can create your own programmes and combinations too and save them to a memory card. The RAM is also, upgrades le which I also did and there's a small but useful ribbon controller too.

It's the Sound !

I have two main keyboards for multiple sounds, splits, samples and so on. The Kurz is outstanding, I bought it with weighted keys although I'd never played weighted before, the action is excellent and perfect for those piano pieces. As it's a work station it can do pretty much everything you'd want, although not sampling, that didn't bother me though because I have the Triton Extreme for that. It's pretty much fully loaded with sounds when it arrives out of the box, but I added the Kore 64 board and it has excellent programmes and set ups. I recently added some extra sounds from Dave Weiser, he programmed tons of the sounds for Kurzweil and is independent now they too are outstanding, well worth checking his website out ( http://www.weisersound.com/ ) I also added the Kurzweil ribbon which is great form tunes like Crazy Horses ! And lead guitar tones too. I find that splits and set ups are easy to create. Set ups are collections of sounds layered or split across the keyboard ( in case you're not familiar with the terminology. Bottom line though, it's the sound.

Tremendous sound.

This has a tremendous sound, the action is great and it's laid out perfectly. The Leslie simm is good, although I have bought a Neo Ventilator II and use that now because it's more flexible and controllable in real time. But I think the sound is superb, there are a few Hammond B3 models, Vox and Farfisa, as well as the church stuff too. I play quite a lot of organ in the bands I'm in and this is just the job for that Jon Lord sound to Jimmy Smith and everything in between.

Never ceases to bring a smile

I love my minimoog voyager. It's the electric blue one. I find programming it relaxing, fun and entertaining all at the same time. It's well known that the minimoog can produce fabulous bass tones and lead tones but until you actually play them it's difficult to appreciate. This was a vanity purchase really, I've lusted after one since I first heard Lucky Man and Yes. I had to wait 40 years to be. Able to afford one but it's worth it.

Superb little keyboard

I've had this for quite some time now and find it very useful indeed. I have a lot of keyboard apps triggered by Xkey. It's useful for scratching an itch just to do something quickly ! Also I find it useful if I'm picking up a new piece and haven't got the sheet for it. It's not a main piece of gear or anything but to be honest I wouldn't be without it now.
