Alex Tumay

In a thread of tweets regarding the choice to track vocals that have already been run through a compressor, Tumay states that he prefers to "use a Neve/CL-1b and compress until it sounds right with nothing on Pro Tools" before making in-the-box adjustments. Tumay's reasoning for this is that "no software compressor can touch any hardware compressor in [his] experience" (source)

Edit: Alex also recently bought his own CL-1B as of the 28th of December, 2018 to use going into 2019!

On December 28th 2018 - Another new piece of gear Tumay added to his studio hes building is the MAAG EQ4M. The MAAG EQ4M Mastering Equalizer is great for wide range control from subsonic frequencies up to the dog frequency territory.

On December 19th 2018 - Alex added the Eventide H3000 Harmonizer to his arsenal. He's wanted it since 2011 when he saw BenjiTheBlender first use it. According to him there is something very special about this piece of gear that brings a great sound he wants.

Alex Tumay uses the Thermionic Culture Culture Vulture Super 15 Stereo Valve Distortion (Unbalanced) as highlighted in his tweet expressing excitement about this new distortion unit.
