Ali used a white Guild B302 for most of his career with SLF, Into their 4th studio album, Now Then he had Started to use an active version B402A.
During the Now Then period and into their 1987 reunion, Ali played an Ibanez MC924.
Ali McMordie has been playing a MusicMan Stingray 30 electric bass for approximately 10 years, as evidenced by a user-uploaded photo.
After Stiff Little Fingers disbanded, Ali McMordie transitioned to tour managing for artists like Sinead O’Connor and Moby. During this period, he occasionally played bass with them, using a Fender Precision Bass, as evidenced by a user-uploaded photo.
In the photo, Ali McMordie is seen using an Acoustic 320 head with a 408 cabinet (4x15”). However, the Now Then tour brochure lists him as using an Acoustic 370 head with the same cabinet.
Ali left the band shortly after the 1987 reunion to be replaced by Bruce Foxton, however when Bruce left Ali rejoined on a temporary basis (which became permanent) during this period he used a Carvin LB75.
