Dave used this bass from 1985 to the end of Big Black its use can be seen in live shows especially the recording of pig pile. In footage or pictures of shows, you can see him sporting the bass up until their final show on August 9th, 1987 in Seattle where the band members destroyed their instruments. In this photo you can see the bass being played at a show.
