Duane Denison's Guitars
Duane used a Yamaha SBG-500, according to this Guitar Geek rig diagram.
His main model, this was made custom for Duane by EGC. Unlike most other models, this guitar doesn't have the EGC pickups, but instead has Gibson pickups.
He can be seen using the BFG Les Paul in many performances and videos (such as this one).
Duane uses two Travis Bean Standards, one of which is a 1976 model, according to Guitar Geek.
Duane can be seen using a black Hamer Daytona (possibly as a backup to his Travis Beans?) throughout this video, as well as other performances.
Duane can be seen using the Hamer Telecaster (possibly as a backup for his Travis Beans?) at the :45 second mark.
In this YouTube video https://youtu.be/zYZhAkpX_m4 of Tomahawk from 2003, Denison plays an ES-135 with a Bigsby for the entire set. He also mentions playing it in this 2021 interview with Guitar guitar Denison says he played an Es-135: "Then I got away from those and went and played other things: a Gibson ES-135, which I used on some of this [Tonic Immobility] album." https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/news/141347/
In this 2021 interview with Guitarguitar, Denison mentions playing a Schecter Solo II Special on Tomohawk's Tonic Immobility.
"I also used a Schecter, a Solo II Special, their version of a Les Paul Special. For a reasonably priced Asian import, those are great.
GG: Oh, yeah!
DD: They sound great, they play great, there’s nothing wrong with them. I am not a snob. I like high-end gear, but I don’t turn my nose up at something just because it’s popular or reasonably priced."
At 0:15 in the video titled "The Jesus Lizard Rig Rundown [2025]: Duane Denison & David Wm. Sims Guitar and Bass Gear Tour" by Premier Guitar on YouTube, guitarist Duane Denison is seen playing a Powers Electric A-Type guitar.
