George Daniel's Gear
"The seriously cool (and tall) George Daniel from @the1975 just picked up this @ludwigdrums_uk Copperphonic snare. The band are on night 2 of a 4 night run at the @o2academyggow"
George used this kit during some 2013-2014 live shows
He used a Solid Black Yamaha Absolute Maple drum set. You can also see the emblem at around 0:53 in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyTZBcyXpDQ.
In an Instagram photo from The 1975's Exeter show, George Daniel is using a Remo Falam Slam, highlighting its role in his drum setup.
"Some of you might be familiar with George’s set up but for those who aren’t he has a custom made Yamaha clear acrylic kit consisting of 10”, 12”,14” toms and a Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple 22” bass drum which is chrome wrapped to fit in with the whole look of the kit (a beautiful job done by Gary Noonan)."
Looks like George is patching the make noise black and gold in his Instagram post on June 21st 2019.
At 1:54 in this video, George mentions using Zildjian 19" K Dark Thin Crash.
At 2:04 George mentions using a 23" A Sweet Ride.
George mentions at 2:18 using the 18" A Custom EFX.
For the 'i like it when you sleep for you're so beautiful yet so unaware of it', he replaced his 23 inch sweet ride with the 21 inch traditional finish one.
He has been seen playing these at Reading Festival and other shows.
George is using a clear Ludwig Vistalite in the "Love Me" video, similar to the one he uses live(Yamaha)
"Clear pinstripes on the top and clear ambassador’s on the bottom gives the acrylic kit much more of an open tone which I could then control if required with a Moongel or two but once again I would try to avoid this for the look."
George Daniel's drum tech confirms the use of Remo Controlled Sound Coated Black Dot Drumheads.
The Roland JU-06 can be seen on the left-hand side of this photo, which is taken from their Spotify Storyline to 'Bagsy Not In Net' off of The 1975's fourth album 'Notes On A Conditional Form'.
Taken from the band's Mindshower.ai website, and from Jonathan Gilmore's collections of photos during the recording of their album Notes on a Conditional Form we can see George playing a Fender Standard Tele in Lake Placid Blue with Maple Fretboard.
In this tweet from the Being Funny In A Foreign Language listening party, George states, "Pro tools recording,..." in response to the question: '...what software do you use to produce?'
In this video by Roland UK in 2014, George Daniel, drummer for The 1975, shows that he has unified his Roland SPD-SX Sample Pad with his RT-10 Series Acoustic Drum Triggers. He says, "I currently have triggered bass drum and snare... I was trying to figure out all of these mad parts and then I was like, ah, triggering seems to be the way forward and as soon as you look into it you realize how simple it is; especially with the Roland and stuff. So, the electronics that I've got during the show, I've got the RT-10 Trigger on the kick..."
George mentions at 2:11 that he uses Zildjian 20" A Medium Thin Crash cymbals.
This is the right side crash he's been playing during the 'i like it when you sleep for you're so beautiful yet so unaware of it' tour.
This crash appears on his Ziljdian Artist page.
George Daniel uses the Remo Powerstroke 3 Clear Drumhead as a bass drum head, as seen in a photo from the 1975's show in Belfast, shared by drum tech woodythetech on Instagram.
In the Mike Dolbear AAA Tech Diaries from July 2019, it is noted that George Daniel utilizes two Yamaha Hexrack Drum Rack Hardware systems.
"We were running a Roland SPD-SX as a midi controller into the Roland TD-50 module which was in my rack off stage."
George Daniel uses the Remo Ambassador Hazy Snare Side Drumhead, as confirmed by his drum tech in the provided screenshot.
