J.D. Simo's Effects Pedals
At 2:25 the camera pans down to see J.D's only pedal, a "late 60's Vox wah."
In this Rig Rundown, JD explains that he uses a late 60's Marshall Supa Fuzz, on loan from a friend. JD explains that it's always been his favourite fuzz tone, especially hearing players like Pete Townsend who are famous for using it.
The Marshall Supa Fuzz also became the inspiration for JD's signature FarmlandFX Pedal made by Brian Farmer, which also appears in this Rig Rundown.
JD Simo has and uses a KR Mega Vibe given to him by Producer Dave Cobb. Cobb gave Simo the pedal supposedly saying "I'm gonna give the guy who doesn't use pedals a really awesome pedal, because you're going to use it and I'm going to laugh." And sure enough, Simo used it on the very next SIMO record. It appears in the Rig Rundown at 25:10.
throughtout this live clip the microsynth is visable and audible from 2:34-4:20 this pedal originally belonged to Elad Shapiro, the bassist for the band, as was mentioned in the paste facebook live video
In a YouTube interview by Xotic Video, JD Simo discusses his use of the EWS Fuzzy Drive.
In this interview with Guitar, J.D. Simo says:
The only modern pedal I use is an Strymon El Capistan delay.
