GLI PMX 9000 MIXERThis is an old school Japanese made 4 channel mixer from the 80's made by Melos of Japan. They also designed the PMX 9000 series mixer for GLI as well as the early world renowned DMC battle mixer the PMX-2 and 2pro. RUN DMC's Jam Master Jay (RIP), UTFO's Mix Master ICE, Whodini's Grandmaster Dee, and Jazzy Jay among other NY djs used these mixers based on durability as well as sound quality. The faders are stiff from lack of use but can be taken care of with a bit of lube and cleaning, the crossfader has no static. The faceplace has no dents and has very little letter fading. The metal case has some wear "something you'd expect if housed in a coffin" but none that would affect performance. Inputs for 2 turntables, 3 lines, a mic, and a signal processor. Mixer also features a switchable output level with a powerful 5 band EQ, recessed back panel and rack mount handles. Both VU meters light up as well. Here's your chance to own a vintage piece from the 80's or at the very least a well made classic.

Rick came to me and was like, “I want you to teach me how to program some beats.” I was using the DMX [and] when we did “Planet Rock” we used the Roland 808, and I had a couple other drum machines so everything I had, he went out and bought. Then we went through the tedious process of trying to teach him how to start making beats. [Later] I came back to his dorm and he said, “I just made a beat. I want you to listen to it.” It was the rough draft of “It’s Yours.” I was like, “Yeah, it’s alright.” I started fooling around with it, put in a drum roll here, a little tap there. He was like, “I’m thinking about going in the studio with this. Special K wrote the lyrics and his brother’s gonna do the lyrics cause [K’s] still signed to Sugar Hill Records so he can’t do it, but his brother’s a good rapper.” I hadn’t met T La Rock even though I knew Special K for years, then I met him and we clicked.
