In a interview Lisa Coleman said that Oberheim was a big part of Prince’s sound. She later saids Prince was incredibly bold in the way he would just use a preset and then brighten the fuck out of it! He would turn the filter way up so the sound would cut through the mix. I still have the OB-SX from those days. It’s one of the most simple Oberheims - there are just a few knobs on it, but that was the most quintessential keyboard from that era. There’s the organ sound from When You Were Mine or The Beautiful Ones. If you play that organ sound with a delay pedal, there you go! And the horn punches? Play [preset] C1. That’s the sound!”

Lisa Coleman did play a lot of Oberheims in the 80s and she continues to use them on tour with The Revolution she has been seen using the new Dave Smith Instruments OB-6. This synth can be seen on top of her double keyboard stand.

A photo of Lisa Coleman using the keyboard was taken during Prince and The Revolution were rehearsing it can also be spotted during the 1999 tour in the year 1982.

On Lisa Coleman's newest keyboard rig you can see the Yamaha MOTIF XF8 on her double keyboard stand. It's the one on the bottom and the second on top is a OB-6. There has been photos taken as well of her using it during The Revolution's tour.
