Max Lavelle
Max Lavelle's Gear
Max Lavelle uses the Darkglass Electronics Microtubes B3K bass effects pedal to achieve a powerful and aggressive tone with minimal adjustments. Featured on the Darkglass website, Lavelle praises the B3K for delivering the growl he seeks without compromising frequency, unlike many other overdrive pedals.
"Max plays a custom four-string Zon Sonus bass with Labella strings (65-80-100-130). In live settings he likes to run it through his Mesa Boogie Big Block amplifier and Omega Enclosures Custom cabinets, with a Darkglass B3K bass overdrive on top. All of this in combination with his finger-style playing technique contribute to Lavelle’s unique and mighty bass sound."
According to the Max Lavelle Bio on Zon Guitars, he is listed as playing a Zon Sonus 5/2. However, this is incorrect; he actually plays the four-string model.
Max can be seen playing his Zon Sonus 4/2 in this live video of "In Hell Is Where She Waits For Me." It is clearly visible 2:19 into this video.
Lavelle can be seen using a white Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas PJ IV in this Instagram post. The stock Dimarzio pickups have been swapped out for an EMG PJ set.
