Mk.gee's Keyboards and Synthesizers
At 1:21 and even before that you can see him playing the rev 2. if you look closer you can see the "sequential" logo.
Mk.gee used the Casio CZ-5000 synthesizer, inspiring the title of one of his songs, as evidenced by a user-uploaded photo.
In this gear check Youtube video Mk.gee reveals that the Korg Delta is used when playing live in Dijon's touring band. It can be seen at 13:38.
I use it for bass and some string stuff.
Shown in this screenshot you can see the JX-3P + the dt-200 programmer
At 13:30 in the video titled "Gear Check: Dijon's Touring Band" by Fretboard Journal, Mk.gee can be seen playing the Casio WK-245 keyboard and refers to it as a "cheap Casio."
In a YouTube video titled "Mk.gee - Candy [Live Concert Tour Video ft. Dijon]" by TeddieMusic, Mk.gee can be seen using a Yamaha CP-80 Electric Grand Piano during a live performance of "Candy" in San Francisco. The CP-80's signature "twangy piano" sound is also discernible in other songs from Mk.gee's latest album, such as in the intro of the song "You Got It."
In this screenshot from an autumn 2024 photo shoot for Dazed, Mk.gee's Yamaha CS1x can be seen in one of the studio-focused photos.
Yamaha released at least 3 synths using this exact body-style (CS1x, CS2x and AN1x), but we know this is a CS1x because of the paint/silkscreening patterns on the unit. If you look at the left-hand side knobs of the keyboard, the paint pattern surrounding the knobs only matches the CS1x, not the CS2x nor AN1x. Additionally, if you look at the LCD display area in the middle of the unit, the CS1x has one very bright, small orange button in the upper left of that area that stands out against the rest of the synth -- you can clearly see this button in the photo.
Lastly, the CS1x is just kind of on-brand for this artist, as it's a late-90s synth full of sample-based sounds that are pretty lofi by today's standards, but still broadly usable and tweak-able (thus all the knobs).
