Brought in as much for his production experience as his talent for steering the proceedings into unexpected waters, his arrival instantly enlivened the sessions. "He makes the party really flow,” Goldwasser laughs. "When he first arrived, he opened up one of his suitcase synthesizers, the [EMS] Synthi A, and started making weird sounds. All of us were just crowded round this synth.”

In this Pitchfork album review, it obseerves that the liner notes on All Things Being Equal has the gear used on the album saying:

In each case, the personnel was less the focal point than the sound and the equipment making it: vintage ’60s and ’70s analog synthesizers, the odd guitar, and racks and racks of gizmos to oscillate and phase and flange. All Things has all of these—some 11 machines are listed in the liner notes, including two vocoders and a toy called Thumbs Up Music—and they perform Kember’s pop songs but also become them, as veins both determine a leaf’s survival and define its shape.

Peter Kember confirms his use of the Moog Minimoog Voyager in an interview with Keith McMillen Instruments, stating, "We also took a choice selection of our own ‘weapons of choice’ including a Moog Voyager, an EMS Synthi AKS, a Fenix modular, and some favourite special effects like the Moog MuRF, some Earthquaker Devices harmonizer pedals, and different types of ambience processors."

Peter Kember's use of the EMS VCS 3 synthesizer is confirmed in an article by Adam Douglas on Reverb.com, titled "The Synths and Electronic Gear of Space Rock." Kember shared with Red Bull Music Academy in 2013, "The VCS3 seemed to me to be a very elegant study in limited resources. I always liked very slow modulations, very slow changes, and most people didn't build that into their equipment. A lot of equipment never lets you get dangerous. I like stuff with the safety locks all taken off."

Peter Kember is confirmed to use the Casio CZ-101 synthesizer, as highlighted by Adam Douglas on Reverb.com. The article states, "Of course, he added vocals, some percussion, and digital synthesizers as well, of which he owns a lot, from a Casio CZ-101 through to a number of home-model Yamaha PSR units."
