Rakim's Microphones
Used to record the vocals for "Madiba" and "The Time Is Now", as is visible in this photo from this December 16, 2013 blog post by Carriage House Studios and the "The Time Is Now" music video, respectively. The gear list for the Carriage House Studios lists two microphones that match the physical appearance of the pictured mic, the Neumann U87 and the Neumann U89. These can be told apart by the length of their mic jacks. Upon closer inspection of the photo, the pictured mic has the shorter jack, evincing the U87.
We had the pleasure of having Rakim again in the studio. He was working on a soon to be released song for a Nelson Mandela tribute. More info to come soon.
Used to record the vocals for "Don't Call Me", as seen in this music video documenting the recording session, particularly at 0:33.
In the provided photo, Rakim is depicted using a Shure U2 SM58 microphone.
In this photo Rakim can be seen with a Shure ULXD2/SM58 Wireless Handheld Microphone Transmitter - V50 Band.
