Samantha Fish's Amplifiers
Category 5 Amplification’s owner Don Ritter worked with Fish on this custom Andrew 2x12 amp with a matching silver tolex extension cab. The amp and cab each have 10” and 12” speakers. Fish was turned on to Category 5 amps by some of her favorite blues players, such as Joe Bonamassa, Warren Haynes, and Tab Benoit. She prefers a “monster amp” tone, and plays mostly on Channel 2.
At 9:06 in the Premier Guitar Rig Rundown Video from Oct 2019, Samantha says she uses the 50w Category 5 "Andrew" as her "backup amp" and a Camille Combo amp 2x12 in case the Andrew goes down... and states she usually uses a Category 5 Camille Head (90w) through a 4x12 cab as her main amp
In a 2008 Premier Guitar article showcasing the Category 5 Amplifier line of amps, 14 different models (3 "Fender-y" sounding amps, like Samantha uses, Ivan 20w, Andrew 50w, Camelle 90w) were listed - https://www.premierguitar.com/gear/beyond-the-blues-amp-category-5-amplification
The Category 5 Amplification website currently doesn't contain any info at all, despite Samantha Fish promoting them and using their gear as recently as October 2019, although used models do show up on eBay and Reverb from time to time. But here is an article providing additional info about Category 5 Amplifiers - https://www.mercurymagnetics.com/premier-guitar-product-review-category-5-tempest-and-1900/
A note was sent to Category 5 Amplification asking about the current availability of these amps, and asking if they would update the website with current information regarding their line of handwired boutique amplifiers. The owner, Don Ritter, wrote back and said an update for the website is in the works. They still have all of their amp models available, with a 3-6 month backlog. Contact Don at 469-556-3757 if you'd like more info or to make arrangements to have an amp built for you. https://category5amps.com/
