Stanley Sheldon confirmed his use of the Fender Precision Bass in an interview with Stefano Casadei for For Bass Players Only, stating, >"I have a James Jamerson model, Precision, Peter got me a couple of years ago. An American-made Fender with really good wood. Even though it’s a reissue, it’s a tremendous bass."

Stanley Sheldon used an Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Fretless bass during Peter Frampton's 2011 "Frampton Comes Alive! 35th Anniversary Tour," as confirmed by its auction listing. The bass was custom made to Sheldon's specifications, features a honey sunburst finish, and is stamped with the serial number E35238. It was sold with a hardshell case and a letter of authenticity signed by Sheldon.
