Trevor "Dozy" Ward-Davies
Trevor "Dozy" Ward-Davies' Gear
Throughout 1966, Trevor or Dozy would tour with an Epiphone Rivoli bass, as seen in the performance above. Throughout the time of the band's stay in Germany, appearing in both Beat Club and Beat Beat Beat, Trevor is seen playing his Epiphone Rivoli bass. The specifications of the bass seem simple, probably an early to mid-60s' model. Along with that, his bass is covered with stickers, best seen in their performance during Beat Club, through its close-ups.
The Fender Precision bass is obviously a versatile and famous bass, with many bassists in the 60s acquiring and using it in their records. Trevor is seen with a Fender Precision bass in this mimed performance of Hold Tight, most likely in the sunburst finish, judging from the shade. Trevor would then replace it with his Epiphone Rivoli but came back with Fender with his Jazz Bass in the future.
In the late 60s, most probably 1968, Trevor would extensively use his Fender Jazz Bass, finished in Olympic White. With the footages in Beat Club and Beat Beat Beat, it is seen that his Fender Jazz Bass is most likely a mid-60s model, judging that it may have had the lollipop tuners. Though another early performance in 1966 has shown Trevor with the Fender Jazz Bass already, with only the pickup cover on, which he eventually took off in future performances. It is unclear whether Trevor would continue to use this Jazz Bass after the 60s.
In this 1966 performance of Hold Tight, Dozy is seen playing a Danelectro Longhorn Bass, which has an interesting design for its time. The Longhorn is famously used by John Entwistle in several performances, but Trevor had used it occasionally, specifically, this freeway performance of Hold Tight. The bass's whereabouts are and were unknown after this performance. It may just be a temporary purchase by Trevor.
