Very versatile distortion. I have used it with Teles and Humbuckers and it sounded great on both. You can get a nice mid crunch that cleans well on volume knob and also get a super dirty fuzz. The tonal range is huge but the Rat never loses its character - a very organic and mid boosted sounding grind. Build quality is very good, although design could be improved a lot compared to modern offers - more compact, with common 9v input, better shielding and enclosure etc. This is the ultimate classic distortion in my opinion. Highly recommended.

Bought mine a few months ago based on many positive reviews across the internet. It surpassed my expectations. Build quality is great and finish is very good too. Very stable guitar. Sounds amazing. It has really hot Alnico 5 pickups. Rumour is that they are white-label Toneriders. Simply great. Neck pickup has a very Stratocaster sound. it is a big plus to me. The nut is made of plastic bone instead of real bone, but It does not compromise. The input jack bothered me a little. It got loose too easily and too often, so I replaced it with an Electrosocket that takes L plugs. Problem solved and a highly recommend small mod. I also saw some argue about pine x swamp ash. I'm totally fine with pine in this guitar. Can't see a reason to go for the Fender brand on this one besides ostentation or brand worship.

I take it as the standard wah-wah that defined what the effect is. Build quality is great and the sound is legendary. Mine has 19 years and still works perfectly without any repair (just minor lubrication). Design could be improved a little though. The switch is a little hard to turn on/off and the access to the power input is too deep, making it hard to plug in most 9v fonts without adapters.
