Wonderful practice amp

The Yamaha THR10 is a magnificent practice amp, I can't help but praise it.

The build quality is exceptional. It's compact and sturdy, which is perfect for a home setup. I also dig the aesthetics and it looks great on my bookshelf.

In terms of capabilities, the THR10 offers an array of amp models and effects that let me explore various tones without needing a room full of gear. I really like having multiple tonal options at my fingertips. Having said that, some of the effects are hard to combine with how Yamaha built the effects on the dials.

The ability to connect it to my computer is a cool, and I sometimes plug into the aux to play along with backing tracks.

However, its sound makes the THR10 a gem for home practice. Whether I'm strumming softly or rocking out, the amp sounds great at low-volume levels. It's quiet enough for late-night sessions (with a headphone output) but can still deliver a nice sound. For the money, it's hard to beat.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I favor the "Crunch" setting for edge of breakup playing.

Great Sound and Functionality at a Good Price

This amp sounds great from low to high volume. The built-in effects are very convenient, especially if I don't feel like using my pedals. My favorite feature is the ability to adjust the guitar and USB/AUX volume using two different volume knobs. It also has a built-in tuner and allows you to save effect presets. I also love that you can power it up using AA batteries. I don't know what improvements were made to the newer version of the amp but I can't really ask for anything else.

Killer home amp

This is an awesome and versatile home amp. Recommended by friends, it also had a good review by the captain, so I went for it. I also see that rob chapman seems to use one. The modelling is awesome, although I've only just started getting back into my gear so perhaps there are others out that that are better, but I'm very happy. The only gap for me is no foot switch.

jimmarchi1

They just came out with a swichable, gig-worthy version that (being a modeler) I am sure could be played at bedroom levels. Its nice to be able to play loud when you want/need to. Loud just feels good. Having old school tube gear, I have trouble getting acceptable home dBs and have looked at this many times as a practice solution. But if you can only have 1 amp I think the gig-ready Yamaha would suit a lot of people. It can go loud, it can play quietly. Its got 2 footswitchable channels that are completely configurable via the front and back panel. People seem to think this is the best modeler at an affordable price point. There are POD devotees, but the consensus is that the Yamaha is the way to go if you aren't going to spring for a Fractal or Kemper. Totally different technology than the 2 big-dogs.
