An alternative to the Timmy boost pedal

Took a chance on buying this a few years ago and I'm so glad I did. I use this to just add a little drive to the amp when I need it. Fantastic for blues or giving just a bit of a bite to your sound.

Simple but effective

A very simple compressor that does the job well. Great for funky playing or country finger pickin'.

Fantastic tuner with handy extra features.

Let's face it. Boss tuners are an industry standard and do exactly what they are supposed to do in a solid robust metal box. The mute option is great for quietly tuning guitars or muting the sound when you swap guitars. Another great feature is that you can power up another pedal from its own outlet. This is the second pedal in my signal chain (folowing the volume pedal).

What can you say about a volume pedal?

A passive design pedal (no batteries required). I picked mine up as a used pedal still in original box for £15 ! What can I say about it? Not an awful lot as it just quietly lets me turn my volume up or down. I have it as the first pedal on my board.

Hassle free power supply

I begrudged having to spend so much for 'just a power supply', especially as it cost more than most of my pedals! However, after having an old power supply die just as I had set up for a gig I knew i had to bite the bullet. I spoke to some other guitarists to see what they used. Each one of them recommended this model. Since fitting it on the pedalboard I have had an incredibly reliable set up. It just sits on the boad and does its job, no noises, no fuss. Just what it should do.

My amps still going strong after more than 20 years service!

I dont have the amp head version, rather I have the 1 x 12 combo. I bought it second hand in the 1990's and have gigged it hard ever since. It's travelled around alot in it's flight case and still going strong. When it has broken down (as amps will do during this time) then its always been a simple fix such as a blown fuse or a valve (or the power lights bulb). My amp once fell out a flight case and bounced down a set of concrete steps, All that had to be replaced was a couple of valves and the amp was back in action. These amps still hold their value and having been the proud owner of one I'm not surprised to see why.

An amazingly good classical at this price!

I was told to buy an electro acoustic nylon strung acoustic by a tutor at university to play flamenco and classical pieces on for a performance situation. This was the model I could afford and so I bought it. It has a passive pickup system so is a lot quieter than an electro acoustic with an active system, however, the guitar has a nice sound both acoustic and plugged in. This guitar has become one of my favourites. I love it.

A great acoustic

A great sounding guitar especially when it has Elixier strings on it. Great for strummed or picked playing. This has been my workhorse acoustic for a number of years now. The sound when plugged in sounds really authentic to due to the 3 microphones built inside it.

Pointy shred machine that can do far more than you'd think.

The RG550 has been reissued a few times since the first version. It certainly handles rock and metal duties well but as its aged the pickups have taken on a more mellow tone.My RG550 is now over 25 years old and was my first serious working guitar.

The guitar tone cuts through the mix as it has quite a nasal tone - like most guitars of this type - when compared to the fat sounds of a Les Paul or the bright thinner sound of a strat. This is not a bad thing especially when playing lead guitar with a band. I don't play mine so much live anymore but it certainly comes in handy in the studio from time to time.

Subtle is not how this guitar appears.

Fantastic hoolowbody with a lovely mellow tone. I was trying to get a guitar for jazz stuff but then my eyes caught this. It can do jazz but it's not subtle in the looks department. Size wise it requires an acoustic guitar size case to fit it in. Only gripe I have with it is the tuners are not the greatest, but at this price you can always look at upgrading them.

The other classic

Think of an electric guitar and the two that spring to mind are usually the strat and the Les Paul. If you can't afford a Gibson what do you go for? I chose the Epiphone version as its as close to the Gibson as you can get. My one I got from a friend who lent it to me for a gig and after using it I didn't want to let it go. I've played various Gibson and Epiphone versions but the one i have just felt better to me (It sound great too).

A classic workhorse

What can be said abou the strat that hasn't been said before. Its a classic that suits almost any style of modern music. The strat is my main go to guitar most of the time.
