Very portable if that matters

This is my first kit that I will be using with jazz and folk bands, so I don't need anything massive. I need to take it to rehearsals and gigs. It sounds fine to me, but I probably need to replace the stock heads. I can't compare it with anything as I've not played many other kits, but I think it will do me for now.

Very capable drum kit in a small space

The pads are responsive, but the footswitches are not great. They can be replaced with better alternatives. Good range of sounds. There's a limitation of the MIDI that does not transmit high hat pedal actions.

A great guitar for the money

I went looking for a new acoustic that would be a significant upgrade on my old Dean. This is certainly that. The sound is so much richer. Okay, so it's not US made, but the finish is immaculate. It gets admiring looks everywhere. The pickup system works great too.

Custom built for me

This is really a one-off. I wanted an evolved Telecaster and Steve Benford delivered for the cost of a US Fender. It's a thing of beauty and great to play

Not sure about it

I got this in a swap and am not sure how useful it is. It's a very subtle effect. I'll try to use it some more to get a better idea

Cheap and cheerful

These are fairly comfortable and sound good to me. I use them for tracking vocals

A studio in your hand

I bought this to use for recording performances (e.g. my kids) and as a microphone/interface for recording at home. It did both jobs well. I have used it as a standalone multi-track, but it is a bit fiddly. It takes a lot of clicking around to set levels etc and setting file names takes a while. Mine seems to have stopped working with batteries, but I still use it to record band practice by plugging it in.

Excellent for listening to music

These leak too much to use for tracking, but they make listening to music a joy

Old, but dependable

Bought this second hand. It works perfectly with Linux. Need to install the mixer app (Envy24control) to set levels. I also have the Omni I/O box that provides mic pre-amps and other mixer functions. I have not used the digital i/o at all yet.

Old, but useful

My first effects unit. Handy for practice with the drum machine. Less good for performance.

As of 2015 it seems to have stopped working. I may have to open it up to look for loose connections

Reserving judgement

Just got this as a cheap mic to record my guitar amp. Will report back later

Cheap and cheerful

Owned for many years. Decent enough keyboard, but the sounds are probably not great

Not used much

I was given this, but haven't had opportunity to use it much. It does work with Linux, but I think I needed to install an extra driver

More power than I could need

The most comprehensive open source DAW. Does the job for me, even if I only use 10% of what it can do.

Clean and loud

6" drivers and 120W each. Plenty for my little studio

steevc

Loud

Basically a clone of a Blues Jnr. Makes a great noise

steevc

Basic, but effective

British built guitar that I've owned for many years. Does the job for me

steevc

Compact and powerful

Loads of sounds in there and a looper for practice. Some issues with moving between patches as there are not many buttons

steevc

Good versatile amp

Lots of sounds. The effects are limited, but the looper is cool
