This was the first proper synth I ever bought. The interface takes a lot of getting used to, and I mean a lot. PD is a very complex type of synthesis and the two line LCD display doesn't do it justice. If you could get decent sounds out of a DX7 using only the face buttons you won't have much trouble with it. If you get over the interface hurdle tho you can get really great percussion and bass sounds out of it with relative ease. The envelope deserves a special mention, it is hands down one of the best I have ever seen on a synth. The membrane buttons look and feel great in my opinion. MIDI implementation is fairly basic and the build quality is rather plastic. My biggest complaint would be that the 16 user patches get filled up very quick and memory cards are neigh impossible to hunt down nowadays. Of course you can always just write down the parameters on paper and punch them in when needed.
