Full on 1959 stuff, harsh bright cap and all. My only gripe would be the cathode biased power section that runs at kind of a low voltage compared to its bigger brothers. It's almost a bit too smooth, not fuzzy enough. But that's really just a nitpick.
Great modding platform too, despite being PCB based. I must confess I have defaced mine with various added switches and such, but man is it cool.
Stock it sounds pretty good already, the clean channel is essentially a JTM45 Bright channel and sounds great, the gain channel is similar to a 2203 with another gain stage and clipping diodes which is decent. Slight mods and this thing gets nutty.
It does have an overheating issue due to where the power tubes are located - right under the board with the filter caps - so you definitely want to add a small aluminium plate to the chassis there.
I bought mine used, it's from the time of "bad" V30's, so that's my only "complaint", but other than that it's great.
By now I'm using it in conjunction with some pedals and amps with reactive loads. It's just too good and too useful to get rid of. It keeps getting free updates with more gear added, or overhauled, or optimized, and it doesn't look like that'll stop any time soon. Don't think there's much else to say, to be honest. Well, there is, but it would be one hell of an essay.
