Small Knobs BIG SOUND
I just got my Roland SE-02. and its pretty amazing. First impressions, the packaging looked fantastic so that's already giving it 3 gold stars outta 5... HUGE LOW END, and can get really buzzy to simple sweet tones to titanium t-rex growls. Knobs were hilariously tiny but not too tiny (fyi i can palm a basketball), even my girlfriend laughed when she saw them. Also the knobs are not as loose as I thought they would be from all the complaints I heard, they're about the same level of sturdiness as a Korg MS20 (plus Studio Electronics is developing a VST editor for it, that's suppose to come out soon.) The delay actually sounds pretty good and when you put the time on zero you can get this haunting sound. Still got a lot more exploring to do, the sound shaping options on here are pretty dynamic, can't wait to use it in a techno track, where a sweet bass donk slowly transforms into something crazy.

No. As for the SE1 being redundant, I'm not sure... I just checked out 5 demos on Youtube of the SE1 (which I never knew existed, although I'm well aware SE has been making Moog clones for a while), they sound kinda similar but just by the demo's I heard I'd go with the SE-02, it seems to me to have a more full bodied sound and more control over shaping your sound. You could sell your SE1 for 700-800 dollars and buy one of these for 500. The one thing that kinda bugs me about this synth (SE-02), like all other in Roland's boutique line, there's a f'n speaker on the bottom of the synth, not only is the bottom plastic (top of the shell is a thin metal btw), but there's a f'n speaker there like its a godamn toy, this is like hiring a lawyer and the guywears a whole jean suit. (Gross.)

The Truth
I own 4 pairs of headphones, VMODA M100's, Audio Technica M50X's, AKG K240 MKII's and these. I do most of my mixing on my M50X's and M100's, but these are my go to headphones for when making final mix decisions and mastering. These are not fun headphones, there big, and extremely flat. But what they offer is the truth, what I mix on these comes out the same on my professional monitors. You don't feel the bass with these but you can clearly hear them and compare them to the rest of the mix. If your going to buy these headphones just for listening pleasure, I wouldn't recommend them, but if you live in the city and can't use your monitors all the time or at all, these are a god send for those moments.

Great Tool For Low End
This synth is great for Techno, EDM, and so much more. When it comes to techno I like to use it to create a nice crawling subby tech house bassline. When it comes to EDM I like to pair it with a soft synth to get a nice low end on a complicated sound so it's real punchy and people can feel it. This synth also has a free editor / librarian developed by Moog, its very stable, lovely GUI, control everything + more, makes automation a breeze, and of course save / organize patches.

Filthy Analog
This is a great synth, very dirty, lotta options lotta routes to go to get a lot of character, and can produce some fat low ends. What I like to do the most with this synth though is run midi into it with a arp sequence and route it into it a analog delay with short time, the results for me are ussually a really dark gritty cinematic sounding arp great for build ups, or gluing a groove all together.
