About

Ajattara is a Finnish band that delves into the darker realms of metal, doom metal, and black metal, crafting haunting soundscapes with their music. Formed by Pasi Koskinen, who adopts the pseudonym Ruoja for his role in the band, Ajattara initially began as a side project in 1996. Koskinen takes on vocals, guitars, and keyboards, weaving atmospheric layers throughout their tracks. The group's lineup has evolved over time, with notable contributions from musicians like Atoni (bass) and Malakias (drums). Singing primarily in Finnish, Ajattara's music is characterized by its aggressive yet atmospheric black metal style, which has captivated fans since their debut album Itse.

How to Sound Like Ajattara

Ajattara's sound is an intricate blend of raw aggression and ambient eeriness, creating an immersive sonic experience. Their music often features dense, distorted guitar riffs that are both menacing and melancholic, complemented by the use of ESP Eclipse I CTM Vintage Black and Gibson SG Gothic guitars. These instruments contribute to the band's brooding atmosphere, working in tandem with the Marshall JCM900 4500 amp heads, which deliver a powerful, tube-driven warmth. Ajattara's music often employs dark, atmospheric keyboards and dynamic drumming, balancing the aggressive guitar tones with ethereal, haunting textures that linger in the listener's mind.
