About

BABYMETAL is a pioneering Japanese band that seamlessly blends the intense energy of metal with the infectious hooks of J-pop, creating a unique genre often referred to as kawaii metal. Formed in Tokyo in 2010, the group originally consisted of SU-METAL (Suzuka Nakamoto) on vocals and dance, MOAMETAL (Moa Kikuchi) on scream and dance, and YUIMETAL (Yui Mizuno) on scream and dance, until YUIMETAL's departure in 2018. Currently, the band features MOMOMETAL (Momoko Okazaki) on scream and dance alongside SU-METAL and MOAMETAL. Their music is characterized by a vibrant fusion of heavy guitar riffs, pulsating bass lines, and catchy pop melodies, backed by elaborate choreography and theatrical live performances.

How to Sound Like BABYMETAL

BABYMETAL's sound is defined by its dynamic interplay between aggressive metal riffs and upbeat pop elements. The band's music is both heavy and melodic, with guitars often delivering sharp, precise riffs that cut through the mix. This is achieved through the use of high-gain amplifiers like the Marshall JCM900 SL-X and modern guitar pickups such as the EMG 81. Their live performances are elevated by the use of multi-effects processors like the Fractal Audio Systems AX8, which provide a wide palette of sounds, from atmospheric textures to crushing metal tones. This combination of intense, rhythmic guitar work and crystalline pop vocals creates a captivating sonic experience that is both fierce and irresistibly catchy.
