About
Beherit is a pioneering Finnish black metal band known for its raw, chaotic sound and provocative themes. Formed in 1989, the group originally featured Marko "Nuclear Holocausto Vengeance" Laiho (vocals, guitar), Black Jesus (bass), and Sodomatic Slaughter (drums). Beherit's music is a visceral blend of black metal, black death, and war metal, characterized by its relentless aggression and dark, atmospheric elements. The band gained notoriety in the early '90s with albums like The Oath of Black Blood and Drawing Down the Moon, and later explored ambient soundscapes with releases such as H418ov21.C.
How to Sound Like Beherit
Beherit's sound is rooted in unrefined and brutally aggressive sonic textures, often featuring distorted guitar riffs that cut through the mix with raw intensity. This chaotic sound is enhanced by the use of equipment like the Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal pedal, which adds a jagged edge to their guitar tones. The band's early work, characterized by a lo-fi production style, captures a sense of primal urgency, while their later ambient explorations evoke a haunting, otherworldly atmosphere through the use of synthesizers like the Moog Mother-32. The combination of these elements creates a soundscape that is both ominous and captivating, embodying the dark essence of Beherit's musical vision.
