About

Cheap Girls is an indie rock band hailing from Lansing, Michigan, characterized by their energetic blend of power pop, punk rock, and indie punk. Formed in 2007, the trio consists of Ian Graham (vocals, bass, acoustic guitar), his brother Ben Graham (drums, percussion), and Adam Aymor (guitar). Their sound draws influences from bands like The Replacements and Superchunk, focusing on a back-to-basics rock ethos. Cheap Girls quickly made a name for themselves with their debut album Find Me a Drink Home and continued to build momentum with subsequent releases, including the well-received My Roaring 20s and Giant Orange.

How to Sound Like Cheap Girls

Cheap Girls' music is defined by a raw and melodic sonic character, combining gritty guitar riffs with catchy pop-punk hooks and driving rhythms. Their sound often leans towards a vintage, unpolished feel, reminiscent of late '80s and early '90s alternative rock. Adam Aymor's use of guitars like the Gibson Les Paul Goldtop and Fender Jazzmaster, paired with the Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp, delivers a robust, overdriven tone that complements the band's energetic style. Effects such as the Boss RV-3 Digital Reverb/Delay add layers of texture, enhancing the band's dynamic range and helping to create their infectious, high-energy sound.
