Formed in the early 1990s, the group originally consisted of Greg Ackell (vocals, guitar), Motohiro Yasue (guitar), Steve Zimmerman (bass), Chris Roof (drums), and Paula Kelley (vocals, guitar). Known for their sonic exploration across genres like noise pop, dream pop, and slowcore, Drop Nineteens crafted a sound that was both raw and ethereal. Their 1992 debut album Delaware and its follow-up National Coma in 1993 showcased their ability to blend lush melodies with a wall of sound, earning them a place alongside contemporaries such as My Bloody Valentine and Ride.
