About
Los Bunkers is a Chilean rock band hailing from the city of Concepción, known for their fusion of rock en español, Latin rock, and elements of Chilean folk music. Formed in the late 1990s, the group consists of Álvaro López (vocals, guitar), Francisco Durán (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Mauricio Durán (guitar, vocals), Gonzalo López (bass), and Mauricio Basualto (drums). Their sound draws heavily from the rock influences of the 1960s and 1970s while integrating the rich cultural tapestry of the Nueva Canción Chilena movement. This blend of classic rock and traditional Latin sounds has cemented Los Bunkers as a major force in the Latin alternative and Chilean rock scenes.
How to Sound Like Los Bunkers
Los Bunkers' musical style is characterized by its vibrant, melodic guitar work and rich harmonic textures, often underpinned by a rhythmic drive that is both energetic and nuanced. This is achieved through the use of classic rock guitars like the Fender Jazzmaster, providing a clean yet powerful tone that is well-suited to both melodic lead lines and intricate chord progressions. The band's use of effects, such as the Fulltone GT-500 Booster/Distortion, adds a layer of warmth and grit, enhancing their dynamic range. Their rhythm section maintains a tight yet fluid groove, often incorporating syncopated beats that reflect their Latin roots, while the vocals deliver emotive and introspective lyrics, contributing to their compelling and evocative soundscape.
