Mike + The Mechanics is a British rock supergroup formed in 1985 by Mike Rutherford, guitarist and bassist of Genesis. The band was originally conceived as a side project for Rutherford, alongside notable members such as Paul Carrack (vocals, keyboards) and Paul Young (vocals), complemented by Adrian Lee (keyboards) and Peter Van Hooke (drums). Known for their blend of rock, pop rock, and new wave, Mike + The Mechanics carved a niche with their melodic, radio-friendly sound, producing hits like "Silent Running" and "The Living Years".
