About
My Vitriol is a British band that emerged from the vibrant London music scene, carving out a niche in the nu gaze and shoegaze genres. Formed by Som Wardner (vocals, guitar) and Ravi Kesavaram (drums) during their time at University College London, the band later solidified its lineup with Seth Taylor (guitar) and Carolyn Bannister (bass). Known for their melodic, guitar-driven sound, My Vitriol quickly gained attention with their debut album Finelines, which earned critical acclaim and established them as a prominent force in the early 2000s rock scene.
How to Sound Like My Vitriol
My Vitriol's sound is characterized by its dense, textured guitar layers and atmospheric sonic landscapes. The band's music often features ethereal, reverb-drenched guitars that create a lush backdrop for Wardner's melodic vocals. This expansive audio palette is achieved through the use of effects such as the DigiTech XP-300 Space Station and Boss DD-5 Digital Delay, which contribute to their dynamic and immersive sound. The combination of crisp yet voluminous guitar tones and rhythmic, driving percussion results in a powerful yet dreamy auditory experience that defines My Vitriol's aesthetic.
