Nasum Members, Gear & Sound

Nasum was a Swedish grindcore band formed in 1992, known for its intense, politically charged music and relentless energy. The group originated from Örebro, Sweden, with founding members Anders Jakobson (guitar, later drums) and Rickard Alriksson (drums and vocals), who were former members of the band Necrony. Over time, Mieszko Talarczyk joined as a guitarist and later took over vocal duties, shaping the band's direction. Jesper Liveröd eventually completed the lineup on bass. Nasum's music was a raw blend of grindcore, death metal, and mathcore, making them one of Sweden's premier metal acts until their disbandment in 2004, following the tragic passing of Talarczyk.

Nasum's sound is characterized by its raw aggression and relentless speed, delivered with precision and intensity. Their sonic landscape is dominated by crushing guitar riffs, often utilizing the Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal pedal for its distinctive, chainsaw-like distortion. This aggressive tone is further enhanced by the use of high-gain amplifiers like the Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier, which provide a powerful, saturated sound. Drums are played with ferocity, creating a thunderous backdrop that complements the complex, high-speed guitar work. The band's music thrives on its uncompromising intensity and chaotic energy, making use of distortion and high-tempo rhythms to create a sound that is both overwhelming and exhilarating.
