Natural Information Society is an experimental music group that melds free jazz, avant-garde jazz, and ritualistic soundscapes to create immersive auditory experiences. The ensemble was formed by bassist and composer Joshua Abrams, who leads the group alongside key members Lisa Alvarado (harmonium, visual art), Mikel Patrick Avery (percussion), and Jason Stein (bass clarinet). Known for their unique approach to music that blends minimalism with expansive improvisation, Natural Information Society crafts compositions that serve as both meditative spaces and kinetic sound journeys. The group has become a cornerstone in the realm of contemporary creative music, consistently pushing the boundaries of genre and performance.
