Description

The Fredric Effects Verzerrer is a Fuzz of the East German DDR Bohm Trickverzerrer The Verzerrer is a highly tweakable recreation of East Germany's only distortion effect, the Bohm Trickverzerrer, using original old stock transistors and diodes. Originally produced in the 1960s and 70s, the Bohm Trickverzerrer is a somewhat abrasive and characterful distortion pedal, which lacked some practicality in that it used 5-pin DIN connectors, a plastic enclosure, and trim pots which had to be adjusted with a screwdriver. The Fredric Effects Verzerrer uses original components and can be considered an exact recreation of the circuit, but it also adds practicality, featuring these trim pots externalised, an input gain control and a series of DIP switches on the circuit board for further adjustment.

Review: Fredric Effects Regent 150 Preamp & Verzerrer Distortion

guitar.com

The Fredric Effects Regent 150 Preamp and Verzerrer Distortion are intriguing yet polarizing devices. The Regent 150 impresses with its versatility and musicality, showcasing a wide range of tones reminiscent of vintage gear, making it an addictive addition to any pedalboard. However, the Verzerrer, while nailing a raw splatter-fuzz effect, falls short in creative options, feeling one-dimensional compared to its counterpart. Its adherence to the original circuit design limits its playability. Overall, both pedals offer unique experiences, but the Regent shines brighter, leaving the Verzerrer as a fun, albeit less flexible, option.
