Scratch Acid is an influential post-hardcore band hailing from Austin, Texas, known for their abrasive and chaotic sound that helped shape the noise rock and post-punk genres. Formed in 1982, the group originally consisted of Steve Anderson (vocals), David Wm. Sims (guitar), Brett Bradford (guitar), David Yow (bass), and Rey Washam (drums). After Anderson's departure, Yow transitioned to lead vocals, and Sims moved to bass, solidifying the lineup that would release seminal works like their self-titled EP in 1984 and the full-length Just Keep Eating. Scratch Acid's raw, aggressive style laid the groundwork for future projects such as The Jesus Lizard, with which members Yow and Sims were later involved.
